Nice forum BTW. My family worked with Ford for years my Dad's had 2 x Orion 1.6i Ghias (MKI and MKII), MKI Lotus Cortina, 2 x MKI Fiestas, MKI Sierra. My First car was an 89 Escort 1.6 Gl Plus and my Mrs drives a 1.3 R reg Fiesta Encore (which I hate with a passion but it is the ugliest fiesta of all time).

Which is why I haven't been on a German meet for years. FFS just recently I've seen a rare F1 Edition Mk5 RS2000 with an Audi single frame grill...

These people are even one step worse because they don't give a shit about handling or performance and they don't give a shit about looks either. Maybe it's a German thing.... People just do whatever Hitler - err sorry - "the scene" dictates them, be it as ridiculous or hideous as you like...

As someone very nicely pointed out above: These people aren't petrol heads, they just want to fit in a certain "scene". Maybe because they don't have other friends...

Few people i know have proper modded VW's tho, MK2 Golf 20v Turbo, Carbon Roof etc, 400bhp 20v Turbo with Audi 4wd system etc.... few of my friends tho are into the whole 'Dub' thing with the slam it low on the small wheels etc, looks cool to a point....but that mk1 is not cool

friend of mine has a mk4 Golf GTI TDI anni, that too me is a perfect modded VW...from the factory!

I totally agree. I do think the VW scene leans more towards looks, whilst the Ford scene tends to go the way of speed, of course there are examples of great looking fords and very fast VWs too. To walk around and look at the cars I have to say I prefer VW shows, I love Fords and have had many, and still own a few lol, but I must admit I am moving more towards the germans lately, Fords have lost alot of their appeal for me, and I really don't get much from the shows anymore, other than meeting loads of mates I don't see so much of.

dents and scratches are all from genuine crash damage (car is a cat-c write off repaired)
stickers - hey i just like stickers, fuck all the scenesters
tyres are of the correct size for the wheels giving excellent road holding, feel and comfort (wider track at rear improves high speed stability)
suspension has been lowered enough to improve stability and handling, but not so much that i have to pussy foot the thing over the slightest road surface undulations

and i do not, repeat, DO NOT! turn up to a car show and unscrew my numberplate so its wonkey and adorn the thing with various pieces of foliage to achieve that 'just found' look!

oh and the connectors for the standard tweeter speakers are actually VW stamped VAG parts.

That Fiesta is awesome!!!! It still handles amazingly due to the correct ridehight and camber. its also powered by a lightly tuned 1.7 puma engine, making it very reliable and useable but also cheap to run.

Everything on the car works, yet he still doesn't have to slow too 2mph to get over speed bumps or watch the camber in the road incase of sumpping it!!!
