Default pro bodyshop people re hours cost of repair etc

basicly a car of mine was involved ina non fault accident, the assessor came round to view the other day

now in my opinion the cars a write off, it also has suspension damage

i called the other persons insurance company to ask progress she didnt have the engineers report so she called him, he is sending it to her but she thinks they will be wanting to repair the car which to be honest was a complete shock to me, although she may be mistaken and maybe once they have the report they will change mind

anyways its a rear quarter, a big one at that as the door shut is gone too, the door needs replacing, wheel and tyre and there is suspension damage also as the wheel is bent inwards at top
glass is smashed bumper needs repair

ok for a guess you could price a large quarter at say £300? and maybe a door £250? so then the rest apart from the other bits needed is labour to repair and paint.

whats ya guesses in hours and cost?

i presume i have the right to have the car repaired were i like? basicly ive got to be completely honest i dont want the car back after a wack like that i dont want my wife and children to be inside it so id prefer it to be a total loss but it looks like i might have to have it fixed.

heres the pics anyway

do any of you guys work in a insurance approved bodyshop? im basicly wondering what sort of quotes it would be to repair

being vague of course but lets say new quarter and door fitted, new wheel and tyre, regarding the suspension damage well thats anyones guess but if i say a few hundred inc labour then i presume thats fair

When my Escos was repaired, that was rear quater and inner skin and new door the labour was quoted as £1500. Different cars I know (and mine seems less damage) it might give you a idea of cost?

as a guess i'd say around 8 - 8 1/2 hours panel to replace the 1/4 and fit the door an hour and 1/2 at most oppinion time to repair the inner 1/4 and dress the flanges ready to fit the 1/4 on. around 6 hours strip and fit around 7 poss up to 9 hours paint to paint the 1/4, rear door, blend front door, blend rear bumper. paint and materials i'd guess around 300 - 350 (this is insurance approved cost) plus parts.

oh by the way the damage to your car is nothing but superficial. granted its your pride and joy but in all honesty insurance companies would rather repair than write off. being in the trade i think you'll find it'll be repaired, the only deciding factor to it being written off with that damage would be the year it was made.

so your saying 300 for materials plus price of the quarter and door so lets call them two 400 so thats £700 plus labour which is what 25- 30 hours in total?
plus whatever the suspension is

so 28 hours @ 23 per hour £644 plus the £700 = £1344 plus the suspension repair and quarter glass

so for arguments sake you could say £1700 maybe a little more

it is borderline isnt it at that price it is anyones guess wether its a repair or not

ive come to the conclusion i really dont want this car back, if they repair it im going to have to sell it i wont let the wife and kids in it. stupid i know but i dont want them in a car thats been like that, yes i know other cars i buy could of been but the point is i wouldnt know lol

you are correct the next car you buy could have a history that you don't know of! i personally have fitted sides and roof skins to vehicles that have never been registered! less than 10 miles on the clock. i personally would be happy to keep the car after repairs are completed but that your car so your choice
