my brother just uses some cheap interior cleaner stuff (the type that leaves a slightly greasy finish) seems to do the trick

I used Muc-Off last time I did this, and a small plastic brush to agitate it (could use your missus' toothbrush I suppose), then just washed it off.

As said, the rubber/eraser is the best method. Many products just cover it up, but the eraser removes it, then you can apply whatever dressing you want, if any.

i polished my step mums corsa the other day and got the same problem, i ended up using this
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...egoryId_165682 CAR PLAN TRIM WAX

it stains it by the looks of things and does go smeary, so when it dried i washed it off and just used a meguairs bumper shine, bit long i know but it seemed to work, will have to try these other ideas though!!! the only other thing to do is mask the plastic bits up on your car before you polish it. but thats LONG!!!

Auto glym tar remover works a treat for removing polish and peanut butter is for getting your blacks, black.

100% correcto and you can get traffic film remover aka tfr really good for this and cleaning wheels and engine bays etc etc thinners aswell wipe on and have a cloth to quickly wipe back off but as captain500rs said Auto glym tar remover is what to use then coat it with some auto glym or meguirs bumper gel for best resultsalso if you get meguire nxt gen polish polish your trim its about £18 a bottle but really good stuff dont need to worry about white marks anymore thats what i use at work (My own valeting business)

if your trim has turned more of a greyish colour get a heat gun and heat it up it come up like new common on the old corsa's archers and bumpers use a heat gun take your time and watch what happens.....it will turn out like you have painted it mat/satin black then coat it with bumper gel then it will look like new take your time though!!!!

as for peanut butter never try'd so cant say it works but it doesnt look good when people see you using peanut butter on your car...... does it
