Default Have an annual waxoyl day!

....Hello all, I'm new here but I thought I would inject some old skool advice to help keep your cars on the road for as long as mine has been. I've had mine for 13years and always waxoyl it during the summer when the heat drives the damp out.

Think of it as part of the annual service and keep those cars on the roads for years to come, this is how I do it.
You need a can of cavity wax (or two if you're going really mad), waxoyl under seal and a refill can of the clear stuff. You will also need a funnel and a short bit of garden hose.
Jack up your car at a slight angle (lower at the rear), put it securely on axle stands and remove all wheels
Wire brush the underside and hammerite any bare patches of metal. Place that refill can in the kitchen sink of really hot water and leave it while you get on with......
.....going mad with the cavity wax and fill all those drain and access holes (phwoar). A-posts, B-posts, door bottoms and around the strut tops.

Then go mad with the paint brush and paint a thick layer of the good stuff all over the underside. Do two coats where it's most vunerable. take a break and refill that sink with boiling hot water again. Get in all the nooks and crannies. This is after a couple of hours.....

Finally, remove the A-post kick panels if you have them, temporarily plug up the centre sill drain hole and get the now hot clear waxoyl from the sink. Because it is now so hot it will be really runny. Use the funnel and hose to pour the clear waxoyl into the sill. It will run down the entire length of the sill (because the car is at a slight angle) seep into the gaps and come out of the rear drain hole. Don't forget to unblock the centre drain hole once this happens! :P

Work quickly and do inside the rear arches using the hose and funnel. You can do the same for the chassis rails. It starts to cool and thicken soon so don't faff around. Tadah!!! The finished article, ready for another year of motoring.

regards ,

Thank you all, I use mine all year round and it is not garaged so I try and keep on top of any rust. I spent 7 years restoring it and I'm not keen to repeat the process! Saying that, it is 31 years old but it is built to be used.

Anal Waxoyl is something else entirely I believe.....

No need for warming the waxoyl can in warm water in this heat as did a bit on my capri the other night and the cans of waxoyl i had were like fucking black water !!!!

Usually have to warm them up cos they are thick as fuck and clog up the shutz gun in no time but i needed the opposite and could have done with the stuff being thicker !!!!

Good thread though matey and excellent advice, am giving my capri several coats of the thicker brush on underseal as well as a few blasts with the waxoyl gun.

Thanks for the positive comments. Vulcan 1700cc with full race head and 45's. Just came back from the RR today with 140bhp which isn't bad for a 40 year old engine in a verified 33'c air temp. More power to come after a few mods.

Here's me having a tussle with a Cobra

and here is an earlier dyno run
