I have no problem with other car makes on this site, I just get pissed off with with those who do have these other cars insulting ours.
I like banter as much as the next person but the current site clamp down has killed that IMO.

I know most Fords are rusty nails but maybe thats what we like...LOL

LOL. I do more for the Ford Rs Scene every working day of my life than 99% of the rest of the world. How do you help the scene? By coming on here and talking rubbish prior to your phychiatrists appointment?

Maybe we shouldn't have you as a member?

What nerve? I exist to make money, it just annoys you that I'm a hell of alot better at it than you are and I can take a product you designed and make it successful when all you managed to do with it was make more people dislike you. Thats the truth and you know it.

You will find that YOU take the piss out of other marques on here far more than they do YOU. Please search anyone else's history and find one that brings up other marques negatively more than you do? Go on, i challenge you here in public to do so... Your a pain for it mate and always have been.

Another public challenge for you. What clampdown? List me, say, 10 things that have changed in past 1 year?

A man with some sense.
People like Me and Jaytech have done our time with the Ford Rs, god, I had one as a daily driver for knocking on 15 years for gods sake, who else on here can honestly say that? We stick around now and help others out who still love the cars and want to run them daily like we did. Even Tony @ Tubosystems and Mark Shead fro MAD don't run them anymore? Want to banish us all from this site guys? Say the word, Lancer Register full time here we come. LOL

If we do leave I assure you there will be a lot more money through my business door as this site costs me an absolute fortune in lost setups, not to mention spares by trial and error sales.

just read through some of this and there is some utter shite !

i am now 38 years old and since being able to drive i have been into fords,my first being a mk2 escort when i was 18 in 1988.i have since then probably owned more fords than 95% of people on here.
i have been through the fazes of buying a x pack mk 2 in 1989 and fitting a 2.0 pinto with a 3.0 carb and fighting tooth and nail to keep it on the road-it was great fun and spent all my money on it.same with countless,mk3 3.0 capri's,mk2 rs2000's,series 1/2 rs turbo's,sapphire and 3 door cossies for many many years.i was always with or just around the corner from a ford up my drive.
in 2002/3 i decided to begin selling cars for a living and i would say 80% of my stuff was ford rs/xr badged and i loved it.along the way i have owned/sold some very tasty cars which bring a smile to my face just thinking about them now....the 500 bhp rs500,my mint moonstone 3 door, low mileage/owner standard 3 doors,rs turbo's etc etc.
sadly as i have got older(and maybe slightly wiser) i have seen the scene change-the influx of jap stuff-most very good has become affordable and more of a sensible purchase for most people, and you really cannot knock any of the m-series bmw's.

i have been a pf user now for as long as i care to remember and to be honest its the only site i use as i always felt part of the pf community,so much so that i pay to advertise on here and also contribute as a gold member.i like the people on here, ive been helped out many times and have met some very good contacts and friends through here.i spend a minimum of an hour on here every day,"who has broke what","who has bought what","who is falling out with who"-all good reading......

i count myself as a ford enthusiast and if i had an endless supply of money would have a cossie powered mk2 escort,a mint series 1,mint mk2 rs200,rs500/3door in my garage.i dont so i havent, but im still a ford lover and really like the look of the new focus rs..........
i think a lot of the blinkered ford people on here have not been through the ford mill like some of us have. ive bought the rs turbo that wont start when hot-just because it was 200 bhp!
ive been through the sapphire/3 door then onto the 12k escos-only to find i preferred the 2wd sapphire as a drivers car!

a lot of the people who are on here owning the non fords m5's evo's,imprezas etc.have been through the progression with fords and still talk fondly of them-they just dont own one any more........surely not a crime?

my 5p worth

i think above all else every body should respect everyone else opinion as it is only a opinion afterall.we would all be bored silly if we all felt the same, its why we all love living in a democracy
i do love my cossie[not as a everyday car] ,but that dosent mean i hate other marques

you are correct stu mark and I no longer own a ford even my 1988 transit is gone
Mark I believe has an evo 6 and a smart noddy car,I have an evo 9 a poous and a couple of scoobies which my sons now drive,I also have 3 ride on lawn mowers but I haven't felt the urge to modify them yet and go lawn mower racing perhaps next year
I have had RS's since 1985 and been tuning ever since I have probably spent more time in rs's than i did in my wifes nickers roflol
You ever thought of expanding and setting up passion evo and passion bmw,a serious suggestion

If ford where to produce a new 4wd cosworth i would be there in a flash

Same here, and not many could claim to be as enthusiastical about the Ford/Cosworth Scene from an owners point of view as me....... MK1 RS2000 (6 years), Sapphire Cosworth (Same Car for 16 years), total Cosworth Fanatic. I'd have thought some of the new owners might well have appreciated my experience as both an owner and someone who built a car capable of performing faultlessly at track events and knowing what worked and what didn't work (That alone would have saved many of you from spending hundreds/thousands of pounds on useless "Supposed Upgrades"). I regularly pop on here and post at the same time, even though I haven't owned a ford for three years.

As for my reasons why I haven't owned a ford............ Well if Ford had produced a worthy successor to the Cosworth, then I'd still be driving one. But they didn't and it doesn't look like they intend too. So I too went with the BMW M5 route, then onto a TVR and now I'm driving an EVO which I can get 500bhp from by spending under 5k ! ! ! ! (Reliably).

Ford have let us petrolheads down abit recently. Yep the new Focus RS is quite a car, but it's already been proved that both the new Scooby & EVO are in a class above it (Performance & Handling from a petrol heads point of view, for the same price). Don't think I'm slagging off the RS Scene, because I never would. Great cars, Great Followings, and Great Club Atmopheres like on here. But as there numbers deplete we have to consider our options.

Don't get stuck with tunnel vision........... Open your eyes & face reality.

Lets see who else is enthusiastic enough to keep the same RS for 16 years, and a total of 22 years driving RS's.

I love Cossies more than most, ask anyone that knows me, ive had pretty much about the lot regarding sports cars and the only one I never got sick of was the 2wd saffs, just brilliant fun, but dont for one minute think that there isnt a lot better out there.
I bought a fully loaded E46 M3 SMG convertible with 60k on it for less than the average Escos.

And surely, that's what car/enthusiast forums are all about "Using Peoples Experience to Help Others"................. I remember when I purchase my cosworth in 1992, I went quite a while without belonging to any car club, and after a couple of years joined the RSOC Web Site, the amount of help I got from there from Mike Rainbird and Many Others, saved me so much money in mistakes I would have made by purchasing things that didn't work. These guys with the experience pointed me to to right part straight away, before I wasted money on things that didn't work. Now after 16 years of owning a BIG BHP Cosworth (Which I no longer own), I too am in a position from experience to help others and enjoy giving good advice from experience. It doesn't mean I still have to own a Cosworth ! ! !

My Cosworth was the only car I can ever say I regretted selling, and I've had some enviable cars since (M5, TVR Tuscan etc etc) but out of all of them, I wish I still had that Cosworth in my garage.

Now I drive an EVO and the Mitsubishi Evo Website is now helping me to make the right decisions.

It doesn't matter what car you own, as long as you can genuinely offer useful and money saving advice.

The thing that is sometimes hard to understand, is how blinkered some people can become.

I loved my Cossie, and the Escort Cosworth was always my dream car, but all things equal (Power, Driver with Identical Skills, both on the same tyres) the Escort would now be out outclassed by something like an EVO with all its electronic handling aids. (Which can make an average driver look good............. I should know......LOL).

as i see it the focus rs is a replacement fo the rs turbo's and is not a cossy replacement........just my opinion........i have had fords since i was 18 and loved them since,so i have had bmw's and others more reliable.......dont blame people for getting something other than a ford as they dont make anything anywhere near m3,m5,evo's and the like.........as said if ford had made a jaw dropping 4x4 400bhp focus or the like we would not be having this disscussion...........
i think stu is passionate about fords he still goes out of his way to help everyone................

WHEN Ford bring out a RWD Focus or Mondeo (dunno why people keep wanting a 4x4 over RWD Focus ) , THEN and only THEN will the RS Scene kick back in proper. Might even get some people coming back from the BMW/Scoob/Evo side. But lets face it, in the current climate, it's highly unlikely.

As for this site... well it only started as a place to go when the RSOC was shut down for a bit (IIRC), and was all about the PEOPLE. Those people ( a lot have left now), have mostly grown up, got families, earn more, and so the BMW etc is a more viable option now.

Stu and Tony have said it all in relation to the thread title.
fords too old now and nothing from ford for too long to keep the passion alive bar the diehards. if ford did then droves of passion would still be here.

its very sad to here people talk like this, ive been on here a long time and love both fords and evo,s the first thing you need to do is stop comparing fords to other cars and except them for what they are..some thing you love!! and also remember that cosworth have moved on and make a vast amount of parts for other cars now , cosworth make the crank, block , bearings, and head gaskets , cams and a load other parts for the 4g63t evolution engine, passionford is the best cus people can talk about any car if it changed you would have the same set up as MLR were you ask a question and get a answer some time next year..lol..
so stop the moaning and get on with talking cars...

Just because a person doesn't agree with a particular viewpoint on a Ford car does not mean they hate the car or the owner. Ford have shot there self in the foot years ago by letting people like me slip through the net and move to Jap stuff, i still love Mk1 Esys and all the Cosworth stuff, and S1 turbos and made some good mates over the years through cars. I come on here like reading a newspaper, yeah some times i like to wind threads up - its called banter, but i think yer taking stuff to heart mate

just thought i'd say my bit. realy like my cossie, but wouldn't say i'm a ford nut. like lots of other cars too. love going out in the cossie and ppl still stop and stare at it. my mate has an evo 4 that he tought was the dog balls. he hates it when i bring my saf cossie into work. it gets all the looks and attention. one thing i will give him, is that he uses his every day. don't think i could get away with that in the cossie. people can't forget they are old cars, you get problems with them. it's not like going out and buying a new or nearly new car. even if you buy a good one it's still an old car. other people have got it right, ford have let us down. they keep fobbing us off with warm hatches. look at america or austraila, they still get hot fords. then again the vauxhall boys can say the same.

just my wee ramble

well said ANDY fook their BM's ford site ford cars end of chat

most peeps gone off topic what you started ....

most have owned a ford and have changed cars , personally thats up to them

like you said tho it's not a bm site/ evo /subs site it's FORD site

although i do like other cars is still prefer to drive my cossy dont care what it's cost me to keep good because i enjoy it

if i want to slag my cos of then thats upto me because i own one

see what people dont understand that they are only a 2.0 litre 4 cyl engine and when tuning these to 400+ 500+600+700+bhp they are not going to last simple they ARE RACE tuned engines

if they think that a 400+ 500+bhp it going to last 100K on the road then they have to think again they would be lucky if they saw 9K thrashing miles before they start smoking or blows up thats goes for any 4 cyl tuned engine

for what i know about the cossies now i could built a built proof cossy reliabile in every single

and ill prove this with the escort im building now ect 9" rear xtrac plated diff /grp a driveshafts proper parts not micky mouse parts that dont last 5 mins

My 3dr in the early days was alot of trial and error no asking on the internet

only try it and see if it works

most people on here with their cossy think big powerfull engine and expect standard gearboxes and diffs to last well im sorry thats not going to happen either

at the end of the day cosssys are cool cars and are reliable when you have the proper parts

but it has to be whole package brakes/suspension/diffs/gearbox ect all has to be uprated the standard parts do well to hang in there at 300bhp never mind 500+ bhp lol

Marco for President!

Peronally, if you change to another brand and like that car better, but still have a love for Fords, then by all means keep coming on here

From what I have seen it seems to be the people who now think they are a "cut above" Cossie/RST/Ford owners and who will point out as often as possible how much better their car is then the aformentioned Ford, that are rubbing people up the wrong way on here
I dont think many Cossie/RST/Ford owners would jump on to another owners club site and start saying how much better their car is. Its just not the done thing.

If you prefer another brand, thats cool, but dont be slagging off Ford, as after all this is a Ford enthusiast site.

Mate, Your doing what everybody is talking about. Good for you, if you wanted to move on for fords and enjoyed the time you owned them then thats great, but coming on here just to post shite like above is just wrong. I'm sure there's BMW forums out there where you can slag ford off until your blue in the face and where people may even agree with you but not here. even that message ( cossie's have had their day) it makes you look like a prick.

What a thread!
Well I think there is enough people with a passion for fords to help me out when i get stuck with my RST so I'm not fussed.
Yeah its not gonna be anything special to alot of people. But it is to me. I cant remember the last time I went for a drive and didnt have someone stop what they were doing to watch it drive by, or the last time i parked up someone and not had someone come over to talk about the car.
Also Im no mechanic, but its simple enough to work on myself. Making the car MINE. I can look at it and think of all the things I have done to keep it going and looking good.
Yeah its a bit rough around the edges. But it makes me and alot of other people smile to see it still on the road after its had a life as long as my own so far. Thats all that matters to me.

ford motor company are to blame the bean counters opted for main stream sales as the rs cosworth mark was not profitable. Look at what they used the RS mark on after the mighty cosworth. The rs 2000 mk5 fwd escort
I also think ford failed to realise why we all bought fords ,it wasn't the ford badge it was the mighty cosworth badge.

I would love to own another Ford but I can't afford a MK1 escort at the moment and I love and respect all Cossies. Yesterday at Combe the atmosphere was brilliant which is what I enjoy most and why I still hang about on PF (even if I am driving a Maestro )
