The fact is , most of the users on here have owned fords or have a passion for the blue oval in some way or other . I grew up with them and spent a shitload of money modifying and keeping them on top of thier game .

Well I dont have a passion for Fords, think they are well beaten by other cars, to me an EVO or an Audi, the RS8 is my favourite car at the mo, are streets ahead & by what rule can i not come on here & say that. Smell the coffee lads what you cherish are now outdated & not on the pace im afraid. I am however a Cosworth fan & its such a shame that the partnership did not continue & develop to keep pace with the market leaders, but it didnt & the newest Cossies are now 13years old & truely outdated. Lets hope the Focus RS fares better than I think it will.
If Ford is where you are at, thats fine, I still own one, but please dont put the blinkers on lads it wont change the facts. This is an open community not a closed shop so dont try to stop other Petrol heads having their say.

I think it all just somes up how good the cosworths are/where to still be compared and expected to be as good as cars 20 years for junior!

hell the evo 1 is not expected to be as good as the evo 10!or even a evo 6!and thats only 6 years older?

I think we as ford cosworth owners need to realised that indeed a evo,bmw etc is a better car(maybe not have the character of a cossie)but i think we all can be very proud that a cossie is still a head turner and a respected car for what it achieved!And that it is still compared to the modern day cars!

Im going to get shot down for this but i have never been a ford lover but i do like a few of there cars, escos,S1 turbo and MK1 and MK11 escort. I had my car for 4 years, longer than i have owned any other car but in the end i got pissed off with having so much money tied up in a car i hardly ever used as it was always in bits.

The fact of the matter is that all this talk of its an old car and ford have not made a good car for 10 years to keep rs alive blah blah blah is all bollocks.

No one is saying that as a car a bmw m5 or an fq evo is not ahead of the technology or reliability of a cosworth.

And to be fair im not talking about saffs or rs turbos here i am talking completely about Escort cosworths.

Ive owned or driven all of these cars so i feel that im a pretty experienced person to judge.

The interior of an evo is no better than an escos infact its probably worse and exterior wise its not even close to how good an escos looks.

But its more than that, its how the car makes you feel. I was once talking to my wife about when i buy an escos and will she be able to drive it and what if she crashed it.

Now ive let her drive all my other cars and shes dinked most of them lol, but me thinking of her even scratching the escos was genuinely bringing a lump in my throat lol.

If ever i see an escos i stop and stare, most people do.

They are more than a car.

Why are people still rallying them and be competitive today, why were they the rally car of choice 10 years ago. Why did they and possibly best driver ever dominate rallycross for so long.

Because the escort cosworth is a legend.

Even jeremy clarkson still says so to this day and you can see him genuinely affected when he does any sort of feature or mentions them on top gear.

If you want a car that will not depreciate, looks fantastic, handles great, goes really well, has a massive fanbase and creates a buzz everywhere it goes and has a near endless possibility of tuning then buy an escos.
