Default how much for a s2 clutch change?

as above, anyone know how much the likes of Jamsport would charge to change a clutch for a standard motorcraft one? how much is a good price, inc labour, at a local garage?

how much harder is it to change on a s2 than a xr3i, as i done a couple on them?

cheers
dre

I'm sure I priced it up at Ford once [a rapid fit dealer] and they did a special clutch change price. Think it was £150 including the part!! I think the clutch is £80 from Ford.

Also a local gearbox place quoted £75 if fitted with ABS £30 without although that was when I bough a box at the same time.

AJ
the only thing that worries me is that there is alot of shit around the box that makes life hard eg metering unit, fuel lines etc. was gonna do it myself originally but if it wasnt gonna cost a great deal it isnt worth the bother... for $100 however...

clutch is 92 inc vat

abs is the issue, if you dont got it then its usually fro 90 quid upwards for labour

3 hours to fit a clutch is a estimate and also a foooking piss take if the car is a erst with no abs

specially at a garage with a ramp as it takes about a hour

metering head aint a issue as you take the box out the bottom

remove the drive shaft cup and then box , take out clutch and refit new, then line it up like a fooker , thats the hard bit

no trouble at all, we done a gearbox and clutch on me cabrio in 2 hours on the side of the road

air tools is ever quicker ,,,,,, all i got ot ratchet spanners

3 hours is about right, without abs cuts the time down a lot, especially if you just swing the box on the driveshafts, still going to be a couple of hours though, & remember 90% of S2's will have abs!!!
most decent garages would charge £40-£50 an hour, so with the parts, labour & vat it should be around £250 the worse way.

You should have some guards around the drive shafts with a pair of 'modulators' bolted each side of the box with belts being driven by the driveshafts inside. Crap description, but as said nearly all S2 RSTs had this crap system.

I used to find if you drop off the complete front ARB with the brackets and bottom arms, then drop the box down before attempting to remove the modulators and shafts it made it a lot easier.

Leave the modulators hanging on the pipes, saves bleeding the brakes.

I used to kill boxes all the time in my RSTs

Series 1s are much easier as they don't have all that ABS anti-skid shite hanging off the side
