The car was lifted off the owners drive at around 10 pm last night in Manchester under lyne
Large reward offered to any info leading to its return.
Coincidentally tags and v5 sold on eBay this week for a moonstone sapphire,it was a 2wd so not ideal but the car could be stolen to order.
Registration was c10 wrs,it has black 5 spokes and morrettes.

I have shared it on my face book page too.
I have to say that any valuable classic car not hidden in a garage is likely to have an attempt on it at some point. I read of a guy with a 205 gti in London who now has to store it at his parent garage as people kept trying to nick it.
I hope he gets it back

This is the completed listing for the v5.
Pretty sure the seller will be receiving some emails from the owner of the stolen car.

I went round a roundabout and then tucked in behind some parked cars and watched them going round and round looking for me.

I get followed in the Cossie every now and again but normally just make my way to one of the local dual carriageways and give it a bootfull and so far they've just disappeared in my rear view

It's not right, the tags should stay on the car and v5 sent off by yourself or the scrapyard who processed the car,end of no ifs buts or maybes as selling the v5 and I.d serves no legal purpose.
But there's always the replica that can be made real or a q plater needing a clean I.d or the low life's needing it to ring a car.
My pal had 2 s2's bitd,I seen the second 1 and immediately recognised the reg but not the car,I ended up buying it for buttons as the big ends were gone, only a while later did I figure out the reg had been on a pals white s2 that got written off which I bought a lot of parts from only now it was on a very early grey s2.
Turns out a satans slave member wanted it disposed of by a shady guy,he took it and rung it the sold it to my pal.
I drove it for a year with a shagged engine then broke it,I kept the number plate but sent the v5 to dvla saying it had been scrapped.
Wasn't good knowing it wasn't right but knowing it wasn't stolen made it less worrying.

Scumbags at it again, to me it's the only pitfall of cossie ownership is you can't leave the fuckers anywhere, can't even park them in a supermarket car park for 5 minutes without worrying.
I really hope the guy gets it back but I highly doubt it, will be in 100 pieces by now unfortunately

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
I always suspect that a lot of these thefts are linked through forums in some way, and when buying parts from eBay etc I always look at feedback to try and get some idea of who you a buying from, let's face it Who ever you buy stuff from then have your home address.

It's sad new for sure but unfortunately any desirable car (and some even not so) are at risk from the tea leaves.
I can't get my head around the selling of log book and tags on eBay, can't be ok to do can it? There is also tags/log book for an RS1600i on there at the moment...
Anyway, hope the dude gets his cossie back.

worrying thing is how far people will go to steal your pride and joy, they know if they are caught its a slap on the wrist and they are back out doing it again while you might be injured or worse depending how they get the car from you.
Some scrapyards do not check if the plates are with the car, I know of two ur quattro's that have had the id's removed from them for other cars.

A tracker can help but they can even disable them now with a scrambler iirc, and when your talking of cars worth Ł15k plus, the type of thieves start to become the more intelligent ones and not your usual scrote taking a chance.
i guess it's all down to making your car harder to steal than the next unfortunate souls

The thing I struggle to get my head around is if your a professional car thief then why target cars that attract such a huge amount of interest and uproar once stolen, The Facebook posts about this car have reached over 10,000 shares within a few days there will be literally an army of mini private detectives on it .Would it not make more sense if you were that way inclined to target say a a couple of new X5 or Range Rovers that nobody would frankly bat an eyelid if they went missing and then go buy a Cosworth with the ill gotten gains

Not justifying it but maybe it's too easy to steal a new range rover or bmw,an old cossie might be a challenge or someone may have a gripe with the owner or want it so badly they will pay yo have it taken.
The way they get taken doesn't seem professional to me,they are prob professionals but to turn up at 10 pm with a low loader and drag it onto the back just seems crazy to me.
Here's a couple of questions I have about car theft, especially old fords.
1,do they ever get found?
2,out of all the high profile thefts,I.e the white Astra van towing the mk1 escort away did any more come of it or was that it,no parts were ever found etc?
3,where are they going,Europe in the back of a truck??or broken up here and the shells crushed?
I know prob only the tea leafs themselves could tell you but it's a horrible thing but quite interesting.
I know of a pond close to me which is full of cars, some stolen some not.
It was pumped out once as the water was used to irrigate nearby potatoe fields and I personally stood on top of a saph cosworth shell which was sitting on top of a white s2.
There is also a full 4x4 in there as the thief shoved it in after stealing it as he heard on his scanner the police were waiting for him as they had an idea who took it and where they were headed,my friend knows the scumbag and asked him and he confirmed it.

I don't like to admit it but being in the motor trade for 20 years and as a youth spent hanging about with some right characters I've met most of the "unsavoury" characters from our local area and well aware of what they get up to and how they get up to it. These days the days of the joy rider thefts are limited to mopeds going missing by teenagers wanting to common bash them still as now as most know u need the keys to steal the car/van due to immobolisers. I also don't like to admit it but I do the mots for the guy who was the most prolific vehicle thief in our county, he's now straightened himself out but I've seen and heard some crazy stuff. cars are now stolen to order, "mr big" will pay a certain amount to the local crims to go out and get this percific vehicle and then they'll park it in a public place out the area for a few days to see if it's got a tracker fitted and then it's picked up from there. Immobilisers are a great idea untill they have to break into your house while your sleeping to get the keys.

I did not realise this is what happens , I had assumed that if your car has been either scrapped or written off the log book is supposed to be either given to the authorised recycler or sent to your Insurance Company?

I wonder if it is illegal to sell the ID then? Is that a grey area where you're allowed to sell it but can't use it lol

its almost like the cossie has gone full circle!
couldn't insure it when it was new as the bastards couldn't stop nicking them, and if it carries on like this, you wont be able to insure them again as a classic because the thieving scumbag bastard wankers cant stop stealing them again!!!
