Heads up for anyone using Anglia car auctions
Carrying on from my thread I posted up earlier this year about my wasted 4 hour round trip where I went to view a rs1800 fiesta which was a complete shitter. I have now stumbled across this-
http://www.angliacarauctions.co.uk/e...ta-mk3-rs1800/
its the same car I viewed but is now for sale by auction, dont be fooled by the pics, this car is junk and the seller would of been quite happy to take my money knowing he was ripping me off. Asking price was £2950 when I viewed, imho it is maybe worth a few £100.
I would hate for someone to buy it without seeing it as it looks nice in the pics, in Reality its a very rough example.
They've even put a different reg plate on it for the pics(or used very old pics) which in itself is a sneaky thing to do.
so spread the word people

How do you it's the same one mate? Did you phone up and they gave you reg of it.
Utter wa##kers if that's their game. You should tell them you viewed it and it's a turd.

the original add was removed the same day I went to view it and 2 weeks later this pops up.

Well at least its in the auction with no reserve , As such it boils down to the old saying buyer beware ,If who ever buys it does so without viewing then they only have themselves to blame .I Remember going to Anglia classics auction just over a year ago to look at an S1 RS Turbo that had a guide price of around 3-4 grand ,When I got there after quite a road trip I was disgusted to see the state of the car and honestly had rarely seen anything so shoddy in years I would not have been happy giving £2500 for it at the time ,It ended up selling to a phone bidder who obviously had not viewed it for over £7k and was back up for sale the following week at the same money so he obviously wanted straight out of it .You cant really blame the auction house or even the seller if its in with no reserve its up to the buyers what they pay

This is why I would never buy and old car through an auction unless I had inspected it prior. Used to buy cars at auction in my spare time and every single one bar one car was hiding problems. I learned that buying the cars the dealer put there that were fairly new was a better prospect.

I bought a n reg fiesta rs1800 blind. As it was along way to view. Did mot history check and it never failed on rust or welding.
Got it home and looked nice until you dug deep. Took kit and back bumper off. Was so rotten it needs back panel. Cills. Wings. Rear arches. Boot floor. Rear turret. Floor panels.
It's now rotted even more dumped on the drive.
Guy told me it was solid just needed minor paint

the carpets were soaking wet, inside the boot there was a hole big enough to put my hand through the rear arch/turret that went through to outside that had been filled with foam/fibre glass, sills were just crumbling away, the kit was bonded on so well I couldn't get a look behind, the side skirts were fitted with rivets but some were very loose I assume because there was nothing left of the sills to rivet to, over spray in lots of places, there was something funny with the slam panel as well I'm not really sure what.
I did a mot check before, which said there was corrosion and an oil leak.
on the phone he said welding had been done to a very high standard and it had never used oil, it was just a bit oily underneath.
when I got there I opened the bonnet and the oil cap was missing, I said what's that about? He said he's just topped it up because it was low??? Wanker.

yep, especially when on the phone before viewing he said it was as good condition as a 5 year old car! I had to take someone with me as I was planning on driving it away,so they were pissed off as their time was wasted as well.

To be fair since the beginning of car auctions they have been the place to dump the old shit. If we've got a car at work that's got major problems and too expensive to fix 9 times out of 10 it'll end up down the auction. Some of the stuff I've witnessed going down there over the years put me off ever buying there again. Even the main dealers do it and I've personally witnessed that. I've got too much of a conscience to do it myself but all of my bosses over the years when it's ended up costing them money they'll buy it off the customer what it cost so far and then punt it straight down the auctions.

No I wouldn't of thought so, it's just gone 2 weeks since I viewed it so doubt it would of been done in that amount of time. I dont think it was worth repairing, just not worth it financially. The only way it would be worth doing is if someone capable of doing a decent job managed to buy it for peanuts and tidy it up themselves.

Imnoteasy, no offence but your situation is what I didn't want to get Into. The seller must of had some idea what it was like behind the kit. I wont be looking at anymore unless they are within an hours travel, but thats unlikely as there's not many about.
I'm stating to think it would be less hassle to scrap the idea and get a fiesta st150 Instead to play about with.

No offence taken mate.
I wanted a cheap rs to use. Didn't mind some work but not this amount. Shame people lie but that's the way of the world and my fault entirely for not looking and doing the research
everyone wants serious money for their rs nowadays even these 1800's which aren't worth much at all

It's a problem with these old fords they like to rust,it's not like you can take off the kit when you go and look at a car.
But I have to disagree with the comment about them not being worth anything they are getting thin on the ground so the price will increase. I think they are bloody good cars except from the rust issues

You could salvage some of the good bits to sell to get some of your money back as the longer you leave it out in the open the worse it will get. The rust worm has unfortunately been very busy on the bodywork!!

I also thought it was funny that the reg was not the original.
The auction has just confirmed the reg as M775AEY after they tried giving me the M3FRS again.
I also saw the original advert on carandclassic a few weeks ago.
Thank you to the original poster as I was going to make a bid over the phone.
You have just probably saved my life and marriage.

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
Had 2 of these a few years back, an early one and a 3.5, my early car was a shitbox but I ran it every day for years, was great, the 3.5 was nicer but quite sluggish.
They look ok until you take the bodykit off or a bumper, anyone buying one of these now must really want one and if they do then rust is the first job to do as they'll all have it.
Just need to get the car at the right price so the jobs worth doing, can't be many around, didn't they only make 400?

It shows how sneaky the auction company are being by trying to fob you off with that other reg.
Ive just thought, I did a hpi check on that car and it said there was no record of it ever having private plate!
I expect some poor sod will end up paying good money for it.

I'm glad to hear I've saved someone alot of bother. I can assure you, you would have been very disappointed if you'd bought it blind.

I only came across this post due to typing the actual reg in google.
