Default Mk2.5 Focus bonnet catch broke - how to open bonnet?

Morning all, a guy from work is selling his Focus, had someone round the other night and went to open the bonnet and the bonnet catch broke...

its the one where you swivel the ford badge and put the key in to unlock it.

i said i would have a look at it for him, but not looked yet so asking for tips on how to get it open before i get the angle grinder out

This happened to me with my MK2 FRS, it's a pain when it happens but there is a trick to getting it open, it's a bit long winded to try an explain drop me a pm with your number if you'd like mate and I'll give you a shout

ok will do cheers, not sure when i will be looking at the car tho, next weekend possibly.

i had a quick google and some guy cut the grill out to get to the latch, others say long screwdriver to lever the latch...

No need to cut grill, badge mechanism off and long screw driver through the grill mesh to the right if the latch, press hard on the driver whilst turning the key, don't tickle it, apply a fair amount of pressure and it should open

Do these at work all the time. Can usually do it without breaking anything now. You'll need some wooden or plastic wedges,a sharp screwdriver and a 10mm ratchett spanner.

Turns out the turbo has gone so the garage gave him a grand for it.
So i wont be looking at it now but thanks for the tips.
