Default Mk3 Focus RS

As anyone got one on order? What's the average waiting time/build dates for one. How's people enjoying them, them who have one. What's everyone's favourite colour in them?

Sean.

Think the dealers will tell you about 10 months at the moment if you order one today although they're coming in a bit quicker than that by all accounts. The line the current Focus is being made on will (probably) convert to the new generation Focus next Autumn so will probably be less than a year because of that if nothing else.

I got mine in the first wave in April, done 4200 miles so far and loving it.

I got a Blue one, but must admit that having now seen them in the Magnetic Grey I think they look superb in that. Subtle.

Our Rsoc chairman has one in white with spacers behind the wheels and black roof and few little painted extras like that and it looks really good imo

Dealer was hinting more towards 6 months when I spoke to him the other week but how true that is I don't know. Aim more for 9 months or so (mine took 9) and if it comes early, all good.

Done over 3000 miles in it so far, great car. Very confidence inspiring and rewarding. Toying with getting rid as I can't leave it anywhere without drawing lots of attention.

I am considering getting one, but liking the black ones, but for some reason they seem to be slightly cheaper used than other colours. Just put the M3 up for sale so gonna see how it goes.

I sold my M3 to get the Focus too. You'll probably find the RS is much sharper - well I did anyway.

Not huge gains, 30 at the most. The turbo runs a lot of boost as standard, ramping up with RPM. Big torque though.

its not about the max gain though, the remap releases another 80 ish bhp around the 3500-4000rpm mark which makes for quite a performance gain.

look at the difference between the standard and revo torque curves (WHP)

Indeed, its not all about the peak figures with thease engines as there are plenty of strong gains to be had midrange.

We do three conversions for the FRS3.
360 / 380 / 400 PS.

http://www.motorsport-developments.c...K3_Tuning.html

We have our own inhouse development car too.
Same colour as yours JasonPD. Primed and ready for paint!

They do a magnetic grey too which is much more civilised. Initially I had the blue on order but I went to SimplyFord while mine was still on order and counted 7 and they were all blue. On the way back I swung by my dealer and changed colour as I wanted something a bit different.

Bit of both but park your Sierra next to most modern cars and it looks tiny/they look huge. The roof is just so low on most old cars compared to the bubbly shape of modern stuff.

Been told it's 12/14 month waiting time for a new one, definitely looking for a magnetic grey when the M3 goes.

Wow, my stealer was saying about half that time but perhaps yours in erring on the side of caution.

The magnetic is a lovely colour, really nice metallic flake - good choice

The nearest dealer who deals with them is 100+ miles away. Preston.
Seen an article on the frsoc that showed a dealers with about a dozen sitting there in cancelled orders. They are trying to sell them at the increased price rate instead of the lower price at which time they were probably ordered.

I ordered mine at the end of April 16 and was quoted a 12month wait. It was built on 2nd dec, delivered to dealer 15th dec and I registered and collected it on the 3rd Jan! 7.5months.
Some dealers have cars ready to go, if you ring around you will probably find a spec you want. For a few people i think, they came through too early and weren't ready to fund it so left them and have placed fresh orders (probably with the bargain heated steering wheel!).

They seem to be making them quicker now,
In the summer there were delays, I took a cancelled order in August and waited just 3 months (still a month more than I was told)... but the car itself took nearly 14 months from the initial order being placed.

Ha ha, about the first post I here not saying it looks bland/understated/too many doors etc!

Personally I prefer my cossie to look at but for driving the focus wins hands down. Taking the cossie out though is an event in itself so I'm happy to just poodle about in it to be fair.

I got my NB with forged wheels on 1st July. It was one of the first cars in Adelaide. I absolutely love it! It's great having a brand new car and not worrying about Cosworth issues

I added a Milltek Non-res cat back just before Xmas and it sounds really throaty now.

For Xmas I got a Cobb Accessport and it will be tuned by Adam @ Tune Plus.

Peak power is 45 bhp more but its the extra midrange I'm looking forward to and the derestriction in 1st and 2nd will feel immense low down.

I do really like the mk3 RS, a couple of my good mates have them and they are great to drive!

I'd love to buy one but I don't want to sell my cossie (thought about it though!) and I can't justify having a new RS as well.

I've got a new orange ST3 coming in the next couple of weeks so I'm sure that'll keep me happy for a bit

As for the colour, for me it has to be magnetic grey. I think it's the nicest colour on them and I really don't like the blue. I think if I bought one, it'd have to have the forged wheels but I think I'd have them done in silver, not a fan of black wheels

At Simply Ford at Beaulieu last May there was a brand new Focus RS (nice blue colour) just across from where I had my Saff and I am not just saying this or knocking it but he had hardly anyone looking at it all day. I had loads of people looking at my Saff, taking photos and asking me lots of questions about it. A well presented old Saff will still attract lots of attention where ever it goes.
Some people on here have said that most younger people dont know what a Saff Cosworth is now but I had a good mixture of younger and older people looking at mine.

Don't worry, I know. I've turned in to such a pussy in Australia! I haven't even tried drift mode yet

Doing 200 kph on my bike makes me feel bad inside I used to do 150 mph every damn day in the UK
