What made Steve Scott's Fiesta so quick? Was it geared for acceleration, I assume?

Were they all performance Ford thrash times?
Any of those cars on slicks or were they all running road tyres?

Cheers Paul

Road tyres, ye Performance ford did a lot of thrashes over the years, redline used to do a few too but they'd cover other brands not just fords

Seeing that list brought back a few blasts from the past, John Chadwick, anyone remember his cossie? Had a good spec to it iirc, not sure it ever reached its potential but I liked the car back in the day, anyone know if it still exists?

It had about 600hp plus nitrous and wasn't geared for sprints, just think it must have been really light, run into the 11's with 380hp, mad part was he never run it at full power with the proper box and everything working properly, did a 10.5 at Santa pod with a quaife box, so he basically rolled it off the line,up against terry Davis mk2, they both did 10.5, don't think he ever got round to fitting the ffd box in it,got close to a 9 at brunters but the inlet exploded he then sold the engine and later the car.

What happens to car wise? Neil his name was magenta 2wd saff was around 630hp, done really well and shut everyone up when it pulled 180mph up brunters with plenty of room left. Maybe rod can tell us more about it?

When u did the original 0-60, 1/4 mile and 200mph run in performance ford did u run nitrous on the 1/4 mile run? Also did mark map the nitrous for you.?

I remember the car you're talking of, as you say, pulled big speed quite easily, but it seems to have totally disappeared off the radar.

There's a picture of it in the abandoned fords thread if its the orange sapphire i'm thinking about. Loved that car, the colour really suited it well.

The carwise one was that from the letchworth area? I remember going to a place in letchworth that had a magenta sapphire with evo brakes on it and a red audi s2 avant with big hp. Wonder what happened to both cars?

Crazy when you see some of those old times , back when big power was 500 bhp but the cars got thrashed . Now a lot of 700 bhp cars but how many actually get used to the same limit.

Still the quickest cozzy i have ever seen off the line was Kev sharps old escort T4 , 8 injector set up with some nos, but had proper box and diffs and used to the limit.
10's 1/4's 10+ years ago.

remember watching a vid of Kev Sharps escort cossie at a strip, it was lined up against Dee Irelands (I think) supra which was 1000+bhp, and the commentator on the mic making quite a fuss of this 1000bhp car running and how it was going to be very fast, well the lights turned green and the escort left it! Bloke must of been a bit embarrassed after bigging it up so much.

Love that car, I've still got the mag. Never noticed the side skirts before, doesn't look too bad without them imo. Love that colour. They still trading?

They stopped trading years ago and seemed to just disappear, shame as they done some really nice cars and were one of the first in the uk to start doing things different from the old t4, rs500 inlet set ups.

Shame. I suppose it could have been a problem where they were based, weren't they in Scotland?

Kev's escort was a beast and one of my favourite cars from back then, was there the day it twisted and snapped the prop... good times

As for Steve Bennett car, raced him at pod once.. I saw his time before I finished my run

If I remember right there was a magenta sapphire that ran at the pod back then, it had a live axle set up by Andy Robinson I think and was featured in Performance Ford.

That was danny b's car he worked for andy robinson then set up on his own, adrenaline race and performance. Was a quick car run low 12's on a stage 1 engine, then seemed to disappear as most of them do.

Think the orange car was Jc's from over Liverpool way, used to meet up with his crowd at the ring every year, the car was 5-600hp ish but was always breaking something or other, was featured back in the day, think the pic of it must be it laid to rest in his premises.

Was at Brunters with Neil when he ran. Mark mapped the car on the day. It managed 186mph running 3 bar & showed 100 deg Charge Air the highest Mark had ever seen. It was claimed to have 600bhp but without control of Charge Air it was never going to run the 190+ potential. Think Neil sold up & went to Scotland. Great guy.

No that was another company. Luke & Danny were the guys names. They went to PF & said they were going to ruin the Topspeed record. I have the mag cuttings of the build & preparation to ruin the record. THEN SILENCE.
