Anyone own an Aston Martin?
Anyone on here own an Aston Martin as I'm really seriously thinking of selling my mint 3dr to get one?
I like the db9 or also the v8 vantage and as the prices seem to be in the low to mid 30's I reckon I could do this.
Just want some feedback and knowledge /experiences from owners? Any help appreciated

Two mates of mine had DB7 6.0 V12's one bought privately and one bought as an Aston Martin approved used, the privately bought one was a gem and never had an issue, the approved used was a nightmare, electrical issues and a leaky rear window that was never sorted, the DB7 was a cramped cockpit but they supposedly cured that with the DB9.
Nice cars though, but as with anything expect to be looking after a car that cost 80k+ or whatever they where new, but being a 3dr owner that'll be second nature

Mate of mine had a V8 vantage. Bored him to tears after a couple of months. He said it was a great GT car but it made him feel old.

Wahay!! I've lost my Virginity!!
I wouldn't I would keep the 3 door, better proposition long-term especially in terms of classic status. After 12 911's I've just got into a nice 3 door which I aim to keep.
I think from a financial/investment perspective I have done the right thing.
AMV8's are certainly affordable with leggy ones hanging around the late 20's early 30's mark but like the later 911's are massed produced.
I suppose you have to ask yourself how many nice 3 doors are left?
As pointed out earlier one day you may regret it if you can't find another nice one and if you do the values due to supply and demand may command higher prices than where they are now. Just my opinion.

My mate has had a few and said that all were very disappointing in performance and quality compared to his 911s, AMGs and other heavy metal like that

+1. I've driven a few db9's and driven them properly and they weren't anything like I expected. I was very disappointed

Mines a 2007 with 40k miles, I'd not want a high miler tbh. Its a big step to sell your 3dr and if you're into the RS scene (shows and meeting fellow RS guys etc) then it may be a mistake, personally I was never into all that so when I parted with my 500 it was a wrench but I'm glad I did it and would never trade back.

You sold your 500 for the Lamborghini which is in a different league to any old cossie even a 500.
Astons have always been a car to head down to the golf club in only to be looked down on by the Bentley crew
Just my opinion

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
Don't own one but very pretty cars and the car I have said I'll buy the mrs if/when I 'make it'. I've a few customers with them, lovely things but you need deep pockets for upkeep - some of the bills for the repairs they have had are eye watering. Interior trim isn't held in place quite as well as German cars and can also wear. Would it let this stop me, would it hell - go for it. Vantage or DBS would be my preference and this would obviously depend on budget.

My all time favourite Astons . lambos and ferraris ect don't interest me could even tell what model is what lol and all topend cars cost and with the way the prices of parts and rs are going there not worth the costs but some will carry on with them so i dont understand the comments about the cost of astons

Funny no one has really mentioned the continental GT, they can be had for Ł25k upwards now, i'v always had a thing for the GT and hopefully I get to have a chance of owning one at some point, whether I like it or not in the flesh is another thing but I'd like to find out.

PassionFord Post Whore!!
Depends what you want from the cossie really, they are great to look at and polish but thats where it ends, sold my low mile escos earlier this year and ordered a new M3 then a new C63, not looked back to be honest.
Servicing/maintaining will be very costly with the Aston, people expect full main dealer history with these cars come resale time, not like a cossie where you can change the oil yourself on your drive!

Hi,
I would go for an Aston in a shot. The v8 Vantage is an Awesome car.
I had one for an afternoon at Rockingham and it went epically.
It was a manual and i was able to put it exactly where i wanted it on the track.
Smooth ride, powerful delivery, fantastic inerior and such a great exhaust note.. Go try before you buy.
If you dont use the cossie much then keep it, if your going to use the Aston alot then Go for that.. Just my opinion.
