Such a 4x4 feels as if its pulling a Petrol Tanker with the brakes on its so muted if you have been in a really quick car. My bloody quick would be a 1400bhp Koeny. Bloody quick is 0-187mph in 12 secs & that's what that missile does. Just wish I could afford one without selling my house.

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
It's just finding time to use it with two kids under 2 and the commitments that come with family life.
Owned it 11 years now and don't think i could ever sell it? Although it is tempting with the value of good ones these days!

I still think standard performance is enough to more than keep up with the traffic, even a lowly 2wd 4-door.
I don't live in the car rich South granted, but I look up our road, 20 or so houses and there's not one other car that can run to 60 in under 6, onto 100 in 15 seconds and do over 140. Most BM diesels I see are 320d rather than 330d/535d round here
They so nearly had 260-270 bhp standard as well ......which means 60 in 5, onto 100 in under 13 and well over 150 - still pretty reliable at that performance too

cossie fan (unluckerly)
There's no way I could have used mine everyday lol with 500bhp it was terrible on fuel being rwd it was plain dangerous in the wet lol too loud in the morning would have pissed the neighbors off. It was uncomfortable with the suspension and I'd worry about it going missing or some clown dinging the door. But as a toy I loved it and can't wait till I have it back

In all honesty rod a gtr tuned to do 187 in 12 seconds wouldn't cost a huge ammount certainly not house money anyways
400 hp is still a quick car it's just when ur used to 30-130 in under 7 seconds everything feels slow lol

My mate used to work in a back street garage and he did loads of work on vws, audis and bms. The stories he told me are unreal lol. I will stick to my Fords, atleast when they go wrong they are easy to fix and don't cost a fortune for parts.

Had my cossie out and about for the first time in months last night!
Just a shame it was on the back of my mates recovery truck going to my other mates house so I can put it on his ramp to get the engine out after melting a piston in July!!
Can't be arsed with scrabbling around on the floor anymore these days!

I laugh my socks off at threads like this, about how "slow" a standard Cosworth is. I think it just shows how some people have lost perspective.
Yes, compared to an A45 AMG or a Koenigsegg, a standard one isn't fast. The thing is, most people don't drive either of those cars. Your average Joe is driving about in a euro box that has about 120bhp and weighs about 1400kg. Suddenly that 200bhp, 1200kg Sierra is actually still a pretty potent car in reality.
It's all about relativity and I think a lot of people in these types of circles have a very skewed view of what's quick and what isn't.

I believe they are trying to get a GTR past that Koeny's time which is a European best. It was previously Kieths Cowie that held the record a car mapped by Mark Shead. First quick Cossie I had was my 500/490 conversion back in 1999.

Indeed good luck to Glenn did meet him once I believe, but I cant lie about my own perception of Performance. IMO the first quick car was 500bhp. I like your comment & its justifies why I moved my cars development off here a year ago. I like PF as a social site & been on here years.

I also live in the real world . I just approached life differently to most on here . Spent until I was 51 working hard to secure the rest of my life to do as I please & not having to work . Did not spend it on old cars be assured.

Do you ever wonder why you get stick on here? If you do, I think you've kind of summed it up with that one post. You moved your car updates off here because us mere mortals aren't enlightened enough to understand how special your car is? Or because we're not cool enough as we don't want to go fast at Bruntingthorpe? Or because we choose to spend our money in a different way? Or is it because we don't speak about it in the hushed, reverent tone that you were hoping for? Brilliant

There are gtrs here that will do it already I think, jamie at evotune has done a 8.27 @ 169 mph I'm sure that would be close, svm hulk 8.4 @ 170 mph, I don't think 1400 hp would take much doing and suitable gearing, mine isn't far from standard motor and box really for 950 hp

Do you think a gtr that runs 171 mph @ 8.22 seconds would do it rod ? I'd of thought it would but your far more expert than me at working it out, I've read that car is 1500 hp on gtroc

You are very right Jay. I have a 330d BMW of the latest gen with an optional power pack on it, it has 320 Bhp and 500 lbft on an 8 speed auto which changes gear much faster than I could. I bet it would be quicker than a hell of a lot of modded Cossies down a typical B road. The gearbox drops about 600-700 revs between gearchanges and just puts all the power down. The turbo is twinscroll and you never wait for boost.
I suspect it is speed limited but it does 160mph at 4000 rpm in 8th

Love reading this from long term owners, they get slagged of for being unreliable but surely old wiring / poor set up and neglect is a reason why, loved my old 4x4 and yes stank of fuel inside is that the vents in boot ? can't wait to get my 2wd done and will be a daily like it was mean to be 😀

**RS COSWORTH**
I've had 3 saph cosworth in the past and escort cosworth at the moment I've never smelt fuel inside the cabin or around the car.
Read on here afew times about smell of fuel I would say something wasn't right if your smelling fuel.

I think the GTR is probably the perfect drivers car, cant think of anything that's actually close for the money (maybe a good FQ evo or m3 but I think they are a bit behind).

For the money I don't think anything is, gtr owes me Ł55k, an m3 isn't really tuneable to that level without major work, and to make an evolution capable of 0-150 mph in 10 seconds and still be a comfortable useable proper road car I think it would be difficult, an evolution doesn't feel anywhere near as special to me personally its a 4 door saloon stick shift 4 pot, maybe some will say I'm deluded but to me the gtr is like driving a supercar, flappy paddle, big engine with massive power band easy to drive and capable of over 200 mph and built to do it from factory, I'm still very much smitten with it after over 2 years ownership

I have owned a 472 bhp 2wd saph cossie, my best time was 13 seconds 30-130 mph. A stock gtr at 480 hp does 30-130 mph in 13 seconds, with basic bolt on mods exhaust, air filters and a remap a gtr will do around 10 seconds, I'm not biased in anyway but those are just the figures that I know to be correct, the gr6 trans is just seamless power that isn't matchable with a stock stickshift, and the power band is huge all the electrics doing there thing make for seamless acceleration, it doesn't have the madness though at all it just grips and goes very sedate where a big power rwd is a proper handful which I still enjoy alot hence building a rwd v8 beast for tail happy antics

dont loose the keys there 700 quid from japan then he had to have it trailered to cummings of exeter because the monkeys wouldnt come here to plug it in probably the best performence car made in recent yrs i wonger what thell be like in 15 yrs some have g box isues with a circlip that holds one of the bearings nissan wouldnt do owt to my m8 i thought his was going same way they said they would stand by it if it shits it self
Il have to do a timed run sometime at 1 bar of boost as it should be about stage 4 at that like a stock late gtr with all bolt on mods, and see what 30-130 I get I've not timed it below 1.5 bar yet
