For the last two years I've had a golf gt company car, it's done over 83k with no issues. I did look at a fiesta st but it was actually cheaper for me to get the fully loaded golf than the ford.

Another guy went for a fully loaded focus diesel estate looked good, shame he could never drive it anywhere because it was always breaking down.

You're not suggesting that Fords aren't the best cars in the world are you?

Im not saying fords are the best but they arnt that bad where as everyone thinks these german cars are better than any other car where as they still have there faults.

My mate used to work in a back street garage and he used to fix more german cars than he did fords.

Me and the mrs had a 53 reg focus with over 145k on it and we only spent money on wear and tear items.

Oh dear, I can see this thread going wrong

All cars go wrong, the badge is irrelevant. Nowt wrong with the OP looking at other options, plenty of good cars in this world.

they are better built but they still go wrong if you don't service them and look after them

Im gonna stop replying on this thread. I do like other makes of cars.

I would have a Alfa 156 gta
Audi RS4
BMWM5 (dont know the model E46 e39 bollocks)

Me and the mrs have just got a mk2 focus 10 reg and this feels well built. Its miles better than the mk1 focus we had.

need a 5 door as its a family car, didn't really ever think it was a big deal but its just soo much easier (the mrs fiesta is 5 door)

this car will be driven in all weathers, mostly in traffic everyday of the year. i dont need a diesel as my commut is only 12 miles although it does take 1 hour

would like something sporty for when the mood takes me and i'm not stuck in traffic. doesn't need to be hyper performance though as will probably keep the mk1 RS.

im also thinking it does not need to be a new car, just new to me, i have been burned buying old cars before and would prefer to stick to something newish to give me confidence it wont be a lemon or a money pit.

What about an Impreza hatch STI? I know they have toffee engine internals but plenty have have revised internals under warranty, can be had pretty cheaply, nice interior and proper awd setup.

That's only an example but there's plenty out there. I'd imagine it would give you the same sort of driving experience of the mk3 rs but just abit cheaper.

If he's only just ordered it, it won't be an new Focus RS if it's coming soon

(Unless it's a cancelled order of course)
