You can find out where the car was first registered (town/city) from your numberplate. http://www.projectbobcat.com/guides-...ea-identifiers

You can also write to the dvla and get a complete history of your car from them for around a fiver including the original owner which might help with narrowing it down.

Use the V888 form that is downloadable from the DVLA website. Takes a while to come back but usually well worth the wait. The form used for original first registration will be there and it includes the registering garage details. Placement by number plate is not always accurate.

Cheers, John

Especially, if it's had a plate change in its life... Mine was originally registered in Essex, but had a personal plate, before going back to a J reg plate from Coventry.

Does that mean your reg doesn't match your etching on the glass?

I've got the original etching, last two letters, then the rest of the vin no.

Although, when I first got it and I put the vin no. into MicroCat at work and it came up with a different reg, I shat my pants!!

Hmm that's maybe why one of my sierras has a weird long code that doesn't look like a reg number, cheers stu I'll see if it looks more like a half vin/last 2 digit of number plate jobby lol
