Default Cosworth Suspension

Hello,

after some advice, looking to change the front shocks on my 3DR currently SPAX and was looking to go for Koni or bilstein.

Currently running Ahmed springs which are 1 year old.

Just want to know peoples thoughts and what they suggest.

Thanks

koni shocks and ahmed springs are a terrific road car setup, comfortable yet perfectly capable.

Coil overs can be perfect for a road car if you get a good set and set them up you can also choose what spring rates you want and set the ride hight to your liking

Spax PSX kit is a great fast road kit, and the rear damping can be adjusted whilst in the car unlike konis.

I have had Koni s on mine for 13 years 60,000 miles use it every day for six months of the year.
They still work perfectly and don't leak my only gripe is I have had to weld up the spring platforms as they rusted away so if you go for koni I would give them another coat of paint to protect them

Cheers Tim

That's awesome to hear u use it everyday. There's a mechanic at a rural ford garage near us bought his from few years old and it's his only transport, real good nick too, it's great to see it going about

Probably just need a 6 degree rear beam to make it all work and a good geo setup...and some proper tyres, toyo, yokos, Michelin pilot sport cup etc.

Coilovers 'could' be great, but they need to be correctly valved and sprung for the road

Most coilovered cars I've been in have been bloody awful on the road and the owners with their blinkers on loving the shit rock hard slammed ride

I've been in a few Koni/Ahmed cars and they are great for road use.
