Default Any car painters on?

I'm going to get my s4 done over the winter, if I do all the prep work PROPERLY and get the car to primer, im guessing this would really help with costs regarding having paint work done but would you accept to do a job like this or would you guys prefer to do the prep yourself?

TIA

Not a painter myself but can diy to a decent standard, I'm fairly sure any decent painter will want to do it start to finish because the finish is in the prep! If they just paint your prep and your not happy with the finish you have no come back, my 2p anyway

I'm a painter based in Bristol. As a painter you would want to do the job start to finish as you would be able to guarantee the work.

itll be a get out clause for the painter if anything isn't to your satisfaction or rust spots start appearing 6 months after. how much are you likely to save doing the prep yourself?

Hence my questions, I don't know, nothing Iv owned before has been worth painting

My wallet is going to get raped

Is there anything besides stripping the car I can do to lower costs, excluding painting it myself

strip it yourself and rebuild yourself to save some costs but leave all the paint and prep to the pro's

i would budget Ł3-Ł4k for a whole car painted to a good standard

If you can do a bit of prep you might save a bit but I wouldn't prime it. Any decent painter will want to check/prep themselves. You will save a fair bit by stripping and rebuilding it yourself due to how much time it can take.

Thanks lads, yea strip and rebuild isn't a problem and I was planning on doing that anyway, if that's how it is then I'll just stick with that
