rear wheel bearing quality ?
Less than 4k miles ago I fitted a pair of rear wheel bearings , the parts came from my local motor factor. In the last 500 miles they've started to hum. The parts I fitted were qh Quentin hazel parts .
Has anyone any other recommendations on brands that last?
Still available from Ford? Euros do Lucas or Skf?

Not everything. We buy all lemforder suspension components off them for our customers cars as lemforder make the oe vag for the manufacturers. Also pagid brakes which is oe stuff. But to be fair their exhausts are utter toss lol! Euroflow being the worst! It's when people phone up and say "I need this part for my car, what's the cheapest u can do" and then u get the cheap crap. We phone round 3 factors to quote every job and only ask for the prices on their best parts as we don't want comebacks.
You can get cheap bits from camberly auto factors and German and Swedish or andersons and there far better

Never been a fan of the QH stuff. Always seems a bit shonky and never lasts. Tend to avoid pattern parts these days as it's usually false economy

Funnily enough i got 2 from there. The first one went again in about 2 weeks then we went to the lakes and it went on the way there. I had to get the car booked into a local garage then got a hire car for 2 days. I was well pissed off. I hate other people working on my cars. Also we had a Vauxhall Mokka so i was even more pissed off lol.

IMO for both to fail in such a low mileage would shout to me improper fitment rather than a faulty part.
Of course it is possible but I'd struggle to believe even the cheapest wheel bearings to fail that quickly, and QH are usually decent parts.
Where they greased sufficiently ? torqued up correctly ? seals installed ok ? nothing leaking at present ? Is the bearing housing they are installed in ok ?
Nothing strange with the axle/wheel/tyre combo that might affect reliability ?

Im betting there not cheap Chinese sweat shop ones lol. My old mans 206 was on over 200 thousand. It started going wrong he wanted to spend peanuts on it. Peugeot lower arms lasted well over 100 thousand euro one a year! Original exhaust well over 100 thousand euro sections a year. Original rear wheel bearing well over 100 thousand again euros one 2 weeks lol

Lower arms are an odd one too. I did change them about 300k ago ( again new OEM parts )...for no real reason really. Was wearing tyres a little at the front so decided why not. Didnt change anything and current arms are still great ( kept old ones as spares ) balljoints are still nice and tight on both.
Pretty amazing really.
With a previous van and cheap aftermarket parts...they only lasted maybe 30k at a time.
