and he's talking shite he says its a new rs500 shell, well that's bollocks, there was no new rs500 shells, the 500 cars that were converted were normal 3 doors firstly so he doesn't know what he's on about

and i'll be surprised if that sells at that price with probably 6 grands worh of parts missing!

I would leave it on its original ID and out a dateless plate on it - thats what ive done with mine.

As for the sunroof - the shells are stronger without so a better option in my view.

I dont give a crap about what is says on the logbook as long as it looks and goes like the real deal and keeps a smile on my face
I couldn't have put it better myself, my 3 door is as fake as a trannys fanny but when it's finished will go, sound and look the real deal

Rs500 Replica, Reg ending 14027 ?

TBH, It's worth whatever it'd break for in parts... As it is it's a ringer and will never be a genuine Cosworth. (No offence to anyone on here)

There was a figure of €8,500 ish IIRC when it was for sale about 3 years ago. Was swapped for an OPC Astra.

Was there a 2.0 3-door apart from the Cosworth? I thought they were all base-spec 1.3/1.6 models.

you have a point there as most i have seen have been early registered - certainly not 1986 or later although i stand to be corrected

The Mk1 sierra production line was pulled apart straight after the 3dr cosworths were build in Dec 86 ready for Mk2 production, hence why the Rs500s were also built then and stored until mid 87. Base 3drs seemed to stop in the UK after the Mk1 mild facelift in 85 when they went to the non burst 3 bolt locks instead of the single post style.

Not seen a base model rhd with the new type locks but you never know.

To my knowledge you can only transfer Id over to a new blank like for like she'll if you can prove 90% of car has been used on a new shell this was done in 80s-90s when insurance company's used to fork out to reshell cars

However you are not allowed to stamp a new shell with numbers at all it must remain blank

I remember this on my
Mates saph, it had been re shelled from
Ford and it had no numbers on the floor but had a vin plate on the slam panel. I'm also sure it had a "no warranty" plate as well but could be wrong was many years ago!!

Well that is certainly wrong. I was allocated a new VIN and had to stamp the shell AND fit a metal plate with the new VIN before it went for the SVA test.

Look it up yourself. Section 11 Vehicle Identification Number, on the DVLA website.
VOSA also checked the stamping and the VIN plate when the car went in for its test.

Yes, DVLA came out and inspected my car, said he was happy and told me to stamp the shell (9093550) myself.

Completely wrong, the new shell can and should be stamped with the donor cars VIN or the SABTVRO one allocated by dvla, most bodyshops never bothered when doing it on behalf of insurance companies, they just transferred the data tag on the slam panel.

Like Iain I built a brand new sierra from scratch, we both know what we are talking about.

Can't remember the reg, could be it. 3 years ago genuine Cossies weren't making the money they are now either though
