Default Mk4 mondeo EGR Blanking

After some opinions on blanking off the EGR on an 09 Mk4 2.0 tdci

After a quick google there are mixed opinions and it seems that no matter what you do the fault light will come on. Lots of people seem to just live with it and clear the code regularly

What do we think?

Blank egr
Get it remapped and have the egr mapped out

If you want the light off and the egr deleted you've got no other choice tbh
I've run our Vectra cdti with the egr blanked and remapped for 4 years fault free
It used to have daily wobbles with egr related issues
Inlets a lot clearer now with it blanked
Egr's are awful things, cause nothing but issues on modern cars

If the egr is working properly I would just leave it be. Easy enough to blank off a vacuum operated egr like the 1.8tdci has, but an electronically operated system will just give you a nightmare.

I hate egr valves with a passion. Terrible idea. Most diesel faults that come into the garage where I work are egr related. Oh and dpf problems are a weekly occurrence now too :-(

It has developed a very light hesitation on light throttle, doesn't happen very often but I'm sure its the egr sticking every now and again. Under normal load its fine

I'm going to give it a clean out to start with and see how it goes

I assume they use the peugeot engine the same as a mondeo? You must be really lucky if the light hasn't come on.

Where have you blanked it off? Just fitted a plate between the pipe that crosees the engine and the egr? Assume you've left the electrical connector plugged into the egr itself?
