Default Advise on Sapphire front wings - screw or weld on

Hi

Going to have a job done that involves removal of the front wings on my saph.
I have got hold of new original Ford front wings, and I am toying with the idea of getting them screwed on, instead of welding them.

Whats your opinion?
Anyone done this to a road car - would very much like to see some examples.

cheers

Default wings

really should weld on-they are part of the integral strength[ableit maybe not crucial] that the front of the car has...what little the sierras had anyway...it squares off the front end ..
i suppose if you bolted it up well it may be as good..lots of spot welds to duplicate

I'd maybe bolt it on behind the doors but not under the bonnet think it would look odd.

thanks guys

that was my worry - but they are just so thin, so wondering what difference it makes in reality, welded or screwed on....
Not too worried about the looks - I think it can be made to look allright

hmm - can't decide..

Changing a door on a sierra is a bit of a shit job plus you'll need the door on to line it up with the wing, bolting it on as opposed to welding it isn't going to cause much difference strength wise. Sierras fold like paper in an accident either way.

I've seen a few sierras after an accident and I think either way your pretty screwed. I remember a car hitting the back end of a saph at like 15mph and the thing folded

ok got it - but I need at least one door changed no matter what.
and agree its not exactly a five star NCAP
I spoke with a guy who said the screws would just crack on impact so it would loose the extra strenght that welding it would give. but then his colleague said that these spot welds would probably crack anyway on impact anyway..
