£10k for a paint job is ridiculous.

you should be able to get the entire car painted, body kit, doors panels off etc for £3k

that would include a certain amount of metal work should the arches or sills require attention. i know legends are very good but to quote that much seems way OTT to me

where's that then? Cheapest quote I've had for full repaint is £3000 an that was for self prep. I've had quotes from £4500 to £12000 for them to prep n paint my 3dr n it needs minimal prepping. Yh I think 10k is expensive n I just wouldn't pay that kind of money as I can't see what warrants that price.. My car still not painted for this reason!

I second that, even when you factor in the £500 or so it's going to cost in transportation you will still be nowhere near ten large.

I think some painters have got above their station charging that amount to paint a car.

Wtf do they charge an hour £500?

obviously it depends on the level of work done. £10k does sound extreme...but if it was a full bodyshell that required all stripped down, and rebuilt again, and lots of shell prep etc....labour rates can soon add up if the job is done right.

Clearly in this case it was far from that though

I paid 1200 quid to get my saff done years ago. That was with rear arch replacement, but 3 months later the back arches went scabby.

I paid about the same a few years back and this was to repair one arch and repair the sill and also a full shoot again.

Ive paid a fortune on bodywork over the years ha ha.

No such thing as a cheap respray anymore and the best charge big money. I know a classic car restorer that specialises in old Fords who is the best in the business and charges around £45,000, plus parts, to restore a car that still has an MoT I.e. Not completely rotten! He's always booked up and often turns jobs down.

Are some of these high prices being spoken about because of Cossy tax ? I would like to hear from non Ford owners what they are paying for paint jobs to make a comparison. Surely the costs are the same on any vehicle?

Was just going to say the above!

I'd hazard a guess that the prices charged are 'justified' because they're working on very expensive cars. Take an old Vauxhall vectra to them for rear arches cut out and made up with a full paint and do you think that'd be £10k? Be an interesting exercise wouldn't it.

Have avoided posting much on this subject as trying to get monies paid back from the bodyshop

Just so people know Legends from what I have found out have gone into liquidation

I'm assuming the high quote on my car was to try and sort his poor finances out and the slagging my car over social media was because I said no and refused to sell him my car for next to nothing

fucking gutting, sorry to hear that. What have people said about your chances of getting money back?

One thing I need to learn is bodywork, i'm okay swapping panels and stuff but not resprays. I've only done rattle can resprays in the past so have to use bodyshops.

Worst bit is him wanting your car for peanuts, thats a fucking joke

Gone are the days of a 2/3 k paint job.
Materials cost a fortune if doing it correctly.

Sorry to see this its not good.
