Default Fiesta ST dead.. What next??

So, after having my little 06 plate ST for 6 odd years and 90k miles, she started rattling from the cams like crazy on Wednesday
Basically, I think it's pointless fixing it as the time and cost is too much for me right now, especially as I just spent out for my daughters 7th birthday, have my own tomorrow, live on my own in a rented house and money isn't exactly the most free flowing thing in my life.

I've immediately had to quit smoking, which should save me a fair few quid a month! So I'm looking to use that money as something to finance another vehicle.

What the hell do I go for? I was thinking maybe a focus or golf or something, but really have no idea what to aim for.

I think I'll be able to manage about 8-9k, but literally clueless. I LOVE driving, so I kinda want something that will make me smile

Anyone got any ideas? Pleeeeeeease!

Bet you can get a replacement engine for £500.. and i'm not up on fiesta st prices but im guessing its worth a couple of grand in good order.. I'd repair it instead of getting into 9k of debt

I got a good engine for my daily st from a guy in wickford that breaks them for £425 I think they're not to bad to do as you can unbolt the front but obviously depends if you've got the time and tools to do it as it might not be practical but just another option

They're not really worth much to be honest.. And I was thinking of part exchanging it anyway. It's got a deep scratch on it, drivers window gave up, just plenty of niggles to sort, and then the cost of a replacement engine and someone to fit it.. It just means il spend the value of the car, on the car to fix it

I'm gutted, as it's been a great little car really. But it was going, just wished I had traded it in a little sooner

Could u but another st but a mint low mileage one and then keep yours for spares? You'd never have to buy another spare again

Good idea. I picked up an 02 mondeo off gumtree last week for £50. Granted it looked like a shitter covered in crap but with a wash there's not a dent or scratch on the whole car! It came with 3 keys,
Full service history and all old mots and pile of receipts and drives perfect. Only needs a tyre for the mot too! Amazing how cheap cars are these days

yeah last few months the price of scrap has gone down and you are more likely now to get charged to scrap a car depending where you are in the country.

As above get something cheap and fun and save getting into 9k debt, especially if you get the new car and then something goes wrong with that. I've had some truly belting fun with cheap cars and actually ended up enjoying them more than the expensive ones.

I agree with Visa Broke, and ive had many cars over the years. Some fairly new and one brand new, which I got rid of after three months as for some strange reason I get the most pleasure from driving about in an old car in nice condition!!

You can get a lot of car for very little money nowadays!

Friend of mine recently scrapped a complete zafira. They couldn't offer him anything but collected it for free.

I had one in the same colour. 51 plate tddi. Paid 400 quid for it about 4 years ago and sold it a year and 20,000 miles later for 500. Couldn't fault it!
