Default Orange Mk1 RS2000 is not genuine beware!!

Hi all.
Went to look at a Mk1 RS2000 yesterday in Hampshire.

This is not a genuine RS2000, in my opinion there are too many things stacked up against it, proving it to be a fake.
With what I found it is a shame it didn't have the original logbook of the original shell, at least then it could be considered a nice replica if the price was slashed.

Buyer beware.

I'd be interested in hearing what aroused your suspicion.

There seems to be loads of this sort of practice going on at the moment. Sad really because I bet a lot of people buy them thinking they are 100% genuine.

What are the many things that are stacked against it ? Id expect if cars like these are replicas then itll mostly come out in the wash as no ones going to hand over that sort of money without doing a bit of homework first surely?

so, the usual stuff... no strengehteners on the front part of the chassis rails, or the rear part before where the anti tramp bolts up. The throttle bracket was non existant to keep it away from the exhaust. The spare wheel part which is moved for the Rs2000 was in the wrong place, the bott floor had 9 bolt heads showing!! The front suspension had the strenghter part but lacked the lower bits at the bottom and the plate at the top. The Owner (dealer) told us it was originally red but the VIN plate had V on it!! There was no chassis plate, they had been replaced but not stamped. There was no AVO plate but not even any rivet holes for the original one.

Regards. Rob

Maybe it's been reshelled into non RS shell. I reshelled my mk2 RS2000 into std 3dr shell n added trap mounts etc myself

I find it funny in those ads where they tell you the all about when the rs2000 was launched etc...as if you would spend 29k on an old escort and not know what type of car is was?
