Direct Debit Road Tax
Can anybody advise on the below.
I was going to wait until next month to Tax the Sapphire but have seen you can pay for tax MONTHLY??
So for instance i purchase a 12 Month direct debit at approximately £20.13 a month and say after 7 months i decide to lay the cossie up can i just cancel the direct debit and not be charged for the rest of the months.
Any advice would be appreciated as i want to tax the Cos now but dont want to get stung with using it for possibly 8 months and paying the full 12 months via direct debit

Works for me,I've been liking the new system - just make sure you time it right, if you go a couple of days into a new month and then cancel it you het charged for the full month - just like before when you used to send in the tax disc.
So just make sure you cancel it right at the end of the month.

Make sure you keep emails when you sorn it and take screen shots,
2 months after sorning the Orion and cancelling direct debit there saying it wasn't Sorn'd
I'm happy paying direct debit on our cars that are taxed for 12 months, but I think in future the Orion only being used for 6 months, I'll do it the old fashion way and pop the post office...

yes its quite straight forward.
tax it online, set up DD, start using it, when you want to stop, sorn the car (you cannot sorn in advance) then cancel the DD by contacting the bank.
remember some direct debits need notice to cancel, so if you sorn on the 31st and the DD amount comes out on the 1st, chances are they payment will still be made, although it will be refunded.
