Hope he had an agreed value with insurance as the prices of these have gone through the roof.

What a shame, would an engine block and head survive the heat of a fire?

hope so-that said insurers use "market value" to gauge payouts-so they just need to look around a bit at current replacement values,so if insured they can hardly offer poor money...that said its an insurance companyso who knows-the biggest crooks wear suits and sit at a desk

He must be heartbroken... Bad enough to catch fire whilst in your own care, but to have it happen at a garage would be even worse.
As above, hope the insurance pay out a decent price....

Wonder if they'll try be funny over the value by saying it can't be mint if it's in needing a repray? Can they do that?

Would the block be salvageable, provided it wasn't cracked and the pistons hadn't melted to the bores? I'd guess the head and anything else alloy would be scrap.

With the amount of heat generated in a major blaze like that I cant see there will be much left that is salvageable.
The garage is where I have had work done on my Sapphire, top quality work and Ford enthusiasts. Wish them all the best to get up and running again.

Gutted for all concerned! The bloke that owned it must be devastated and the owners of the garage are more than likely just as gutted. If they are ford enthusiasts as said above they will be gutted this has happened to such an iconic car that was in there care. Hope the men in suits pay out but somehow I doubt they will!!

No, furry works with accident claims or something so as i understand it, the firm where the car is, is used by the company he works for to make repairs.

it was not his RS500.

Read on Facebook that rustys garage in Manchester has also burnt down I'm sure that had 2 rs500's in it at one point and apparently it was full of cars when it went up.
