Just plain stupidly fast

Dave not Claire.
Labour does come into it if you have any business sense. As do things like electricity, one off fab costs, even the loss of a ramp whilst it was being built, all things have to be factored when its a company build, even if its a demo car.

Can we not return to congratulating this achievement & leave the expense to those competing at this level. Topspeed running is in its heyday at this time. Back in 2005 no car at Vmax had ever reached 200mph in 2015 alone 35 cars have reached that speed . The record in 2005 was 215.8 mph now its just short of 240. Ford is represented at these events by the Ford GT these days 206mph best to date by the Roosh car. Still for me this Qashqai is my favourite Topspeed car so far absolutely love it.

I seen a few of the results listed it shows how far things have moved on in the last couple of years with the amount of cars now passing 200mph at each event.

Its truly amazing if only the YB had carried on from where it was in 2005 (206mph) we could be the far side of 215mph now. Alas it was not to be without competition development just stagnates.

Even an Alpha 12 basic package starts at around US$65k
That's without brakes, suspension and any other upgrades, plenty will spend a lot more. That's also not including the cost of the car.
And I know speaking to some guys at TOTB, that sort of thing here in the UK fully fitted, can be a hell of a lot more and that isnt including any bangs.
You may be lucky and be able to buy a car already done to that sort of level within a 120k budget, but you sure arent building one yourself from scratch.
But building it from the outset to that sort of level will always be cheaper than doing it in stages and forever changing specs.
And the Quashquai, you're talking easily double that figure....and then some as spec changes and costs increase over time.
Fast cars to that sort of level are never cheap.

Power isnt really the problem, it's traction and aero as even on all runs at TOTB, it started spinning the wheels again around 185mph which wastes a good bit of time.
That said, I've no interest in trying for 220, its just suicidal lol.

Based on VBox results I was told from the event for the 9e, certainly mine's already faster to 200 than it. Dont have the info on the other two quicker cars though.

Understand where you are coming from tho 150 is quick enough for me in a cortina let alone 185 in a granada.

When Gundam ran the 239 it was beaten to the bottom by a Porsche.
Gundam was doing 239 the other reached 211. In topspeed running its the Terminal not the ET that wins. Its the longer gearing to run those speeds that slows up the 0-200mph its from then on these cars are silly.
#53
Pretty sure my gearing is a lot taller than all of them baring in mind I'm still in 5th gear to over 200. They'll no doubt be into 6th at that point.
I could carry 5th to around 210mph or so. 6th is just a cruising gear for me, I'd no interest in dropping gearing to allow 6 gears for racing, because it's so nice having the tall 6th for motorways etc.
Even despite how tall it is....I've still looked for a 7th a few times lol.
It's the aero of those cars that shines to allow them to pull big speeds ( Quashqai excluded of course ! ). The real brick wall for me starts around 180mph after that you can see interim times hurt.

Looking at various videos of the cars at the event, most seem to be hitting 6th around 180mph, some of the Lambo's earlier as they have 7 gears so are into 7th around a similar speed
Only in car run video I can find of Qashqai looks quite similar too with 5th running to around 180-190.
Their gearing is definitely optimised for everything their cars can achieve. Not sure on the 9e Porsche, cant find any videos of that one.

Only notion at present is a deeper front spoiler and possibly different rear spoiler. More to prevent the car trying to take off really, which should help grip and stability at the top end.
I wont be doing anything that radically alters appearance of the car, nor will I be covering the car with stupid looking sticky tape, folding mirrors or any of that bullshit.
I think less air getting under the car should help it everywhere though. It's just something that isnt easy to test.

You could maybe do with some sort of suspension travel data logger so you can see how the suspension is reacting to splitter changes. I'm guessing the more air goes under the more the front lifts?
Are your wheels spinning again due to the amount of air going under the car eventually raising the rear end slightly or is it something else?

suspension travel pots arent usually cheap though but it is about the only way I could determine whether any spoilers etc were working.
Plus the slight inconvenience of also having to drive at silly speeds to actually test, which isnt so practical on the road
I'd say yes, the lack of aero etc is simply allowing the car to get light at speed, which given power/traction/aero drag at that speed, just results in the path of least resistance for the power being the tyres.
I dont think I need downforce as such, just much less lift.

That is mega impressive! Any idea on the power figure? Must be well into 4 figures.
Rod, a while ago you posted on facebook an entry list to Vmax type event where there was a mountune (IIRC) focus ST plus a cav turbo and other stuff listed. What happened there? Has the event been?

Thats from the standing 1km this year. If I can get some sort of light aero help and nail a better run I'm pretty sure it could do 200 in 1km.

Only shelf options are the larger RS version the likes of Joel has on his gold car, likewise front spoiler.
As to whether either had any wind tunnel testing...I really doubt it lol so it'd only be guesswork as to whether they'd really improve things.
But they'll be easiest options for sure, and front should be easily modified to make it deeper.
Not sure on rears or width, but R32 GTR's have a very flat boot so some of their parts might fit. Wouldnt fancy them on permanently though.
