Alternatives to dunnell zetec alternator kit?
Is there an alternative to the dunnell kit? I'm not using the ford pas pump or aircon on my focus RS mk1. I need to get theatre pump pulley to spin the correct way. Dunnell do a kit but £300+vat. Are there other options?

Surely that will cause issues with the engine mount as I'm still running FWD?

Do raceline still make this stuff? Doubt they are much cheaper though.

FWD auxiliary water pump alternator belt drive
Hi, I've put the ST170 engine and 6-speed gearbox in my Orion Mk1. I have been using a single belt to the alternator and use a Davis Craig EWP-80 electric water pump. The EWP is fine, but as it doesn't pump when the engine is cold soon on cold days no hot water gets into the heater matrix and in the winter it rather chilly.
So as I'm in the process of swapping the Getrag to the MTX 5-speed gearbox I'm also putting on individual throttle bodies (more on that later) and going back to the Ford water pump. So I'm making a couple of idler pulleys that simply bolt on allowing use of the stock Ford belt tensioner. All brackets are made of aerospace grade billet aluminium and the idler wheels are ribbed and brand new.
The Retro Ford kit and others like don't use a belt tensioner. The tensioner removes the headache of regular manual retensioning, multi rib belts don't stretch so work best when preloaded by tensioner.
I'm going to be selling my kit in a couple of weeks. If you're interested please get in touch, and if there's enough interest I will make a bulk order and pass on the discount.
The photo shows a mock up, but shows the stock serpentine belt path allowing for the correct water pump rotation and the ability to upgrade to air con and power steering unlike other auxiliary belt kits.
Cheers, Clive

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
There is a firm that already makes a billet alloy Power steering idler. Anembo engineering. Ebay There is a firm in the USA that makes one in steel. I made one up the same. Nice and easy.
Only thing is they all use the chunky alloy “C” casting.
Some thing billet that bolts to the block would be nice.
you don’t need to add an extra idler for the Ac delete. Ford already supply a belt for the poverty spec focus with no Ac.

Thanks for the info above, quite simple a welded bracket with a nice big idler.
Here’s my finished job. The gold finish is brush applied alocrom which was just cheaper than going the anodising route for my one off. If people like the set up and want a set I will get them anodised if there are enough items to cover the minimum orders quantity at the anodiser.
I have a couple of spare sets unfinished, could be painted I guess. I’d want £170 for a set including new idle wheels.
Look out for my post about throttle bodies for the ST170/Zetec coming shortly.
Cheers.

No photo yet ?.
mine is a big idler, 125mm from memory as its the same dia as the power steering pump. That way its a direct swap.
