What do people use to replace or make new over the genuine ford stuff that's under the bonnet. Mines a bit tired now so needs sorting and I was thinking gold stuff

It's now almost certainly a fire hazzard on many cars as it's 30 years old , dry as a stick and in most cases hanging loose down the back of the now bigger than standard down pipe , I've seen more than one fire caused by this so something from the motorsport world that's fire proof would be my starting point , mines has just been removed on both my cars

Graham goods do some really good fireproof matting I got a few meters of it

The gold is hard to apply and make neat if you use the slim self adhesive backed stuff. I have used that and then dynamatted inside the car. There must have been 6 holes through mine when I got it where things had been fitted and then removed.
