7.5" driveshaft lengths - any geeks in? sierra/scorpio/granada
Anyone have a list of driveshaft lengths that ford fitted to the 2wd sapphires/scorpios?
I have a pair of 2wd sapphire/sierra, the short one is around 460mm, I need approx 475mm.
Trying to see if ford fitted anything longer to the scorpios before I make a spacer.

What about the xr4x4 rears, weren't they longer and could you build them in to the 2wd?

XR4x4 defo a no no, they are 100mm Lobros, needs to be the larger 108mm units, I'm thinking 24v Scorpio has wider shafts.
The 2wd cars used 2 different length shafts for defo, I have 2 long ones and a short one here, the short one is just slightly too short because of my wide track.

Wrong and wrong
I measured then in 93 and then again in 2006 and they were still the same length, and my neighbour had a Granada and he swapped shafts with me in 97 and that's when I discovered this was the case
The rear ends are the same and use the same mounting points on the Granada and Sierra as I've swapped beams over in at least 4 cars over the years without any issues
The wheels being wider and having a different offset might explain why it's got a wider track but I'm pretty sure the beam I've got in the garden can be measured up if there are any doubts

I was referring to Marc saying the shafts were the same length on both sides, the 7 and 7.5 diff have one side the same length but in the other the shaft is longer/shorter, but of the 3 lengths given I'm not sure which is which
But you can't easily widen the track without a total redesign of the rear end

Can't you cut to what you need and have the welded like MK Marc Kinsey did?

I have had a complete Granada 24v beam on my car and also a Sierra 4x4 Cosworth beam on it. The Granada beam is 100% sure wider than the Sierra beam. The surfaces on the arms where the bearing carriers bolt on are more outwards on a Granada.
But to come back to the original question. If you are looking for 108 mm lobros perhaps the Scorpio is of use. It will have longer shafts just aswell.

For Dojj:
The mounting surface on a Granada arm:
And on the Cosworth 4x4 arm:
You can see that the Granada arm is wider when looking at the width of the ABS sensor compared to the arm.
BTW, it's not only the track width that is different, the angle of the mounting surface is also different. That's why Granada arms on a Sierra give more negative camber. Just a shame I had to dig through all my pictures to prove you are the one who is wrong.

That extra width on the granada will be taken up by the stub axle surely, not the driveshaft. So I would say you are both right, same driveshafts as sierra, different arms, different half shafts.
One way to give a wider track on a sierra or escos then, use Granadas arms and stubs.
