Default Pinto turbo help please ecu (1st ever post)

Ok guys first ever post here on pf (after 4 years) so here goes!!

So I've decided to run my rusty old blue oval on a 2.0 pinto turbo, I have an engine which consists of 205 block, piston crowns machined, 4x4 oil pump & spray bar, unleaded head, rs turbo t3, custom inlet with yellow Injectors

I have acquired a cosworth engine loom and l6 ecu, Now when it comes to wiring and ecu's I'm pretty much clueless, so would I be right in saying I can use this loom an ecu ??

Also what about a suitable chip to run the level of tune on the engine?? Or will I need a custom map? I'm not sure what chip is in the ecu now maybe stage 2?? Green injectors?? Any ideas?

Any help and advice much appreciated

Hi mate just asking have you got low compreshion pistons inside this motor all so have you put a tuthed bottom pully as the ECU needs to read the crank all so you will need a Cosworth dizzy
You will all so need to get the blue prob into the head so the ECU can tell how hot the motor is

The pistons are std 2.0 pinto with some material removed from crowns, I have a set of escort 4x4 pistons also but didn't wana put these on pinto rods as I heard there a bit shorter (maybe too low comp)
I'm on the lookout for a crank pulley with trigger wheel at the moment and probably a new sensor kit. The blue sensor is in the inlet plate that's ok jus need too tap the act sensor into plenum with vaccum fittings, I'll be running a 4x4 sump so crank sensor should jus bolt on rite??
I think the distributor is a std pinto one as the 45degree cap looks to be modified inside, like a bit cut out of it so it fits on, is a cosworth distributor different??

Also should I maybe change the thread title too pinto turbo help in general lol

Thanks in advance pf community

I think you will need a after market ecu.

A mate used to run one on a carb years ago, went well.

Obviously a setup like that will need custom tuned.

Which would be a lot easier with a standalone ecu unless you have a very good Marelli tuner local to you.

Hi,

I explain the project pinto turbo and the failure in case someone has happened and can help me.
I have adapted the electrical installation for cosworth 2wd ECU l6, I have replaced in pinto motor:

Connecting rods cosworth
Pistons cosworth
Oil pump cosworth
Water sensor cosworth
Air sensor cosworth
Distributor and fase sensor cosworth
Rpm sensor with 4-tooth wheel custom cosworth
Injector 803
Fuel pump 044
Chip stage 2 (ECU L6)
Spark plug ngk bcr8es
Throttle position sensor cosworth
Turbo holset hx35
Valve amal cosworth
MAP 3bar cosworth
Ignition amplifier module cosworth

I am still using from pinto:

Coil pack
Idle Speed Control Valve

The car starts OK, but at 3000rpm it fails (it does some detonations), don't exceed 3000 rpm.
I have measured all the sensors and the values are corrects, the AFR is ok between 13 and 15.
I think it's a spark problem, I'm going to replace the coil (pinto) for one of 40kv.

Did somebody have this same problem?

Regards

what spark timing you use in idle?
i have made few turbo pinto's,and use about 30 degree advance.
cossie std spark timing too less for pinto,ex temp rise too far.
i know one car where turbo(turbinwheel) melt.
