Trying to figure out what dealer my Cosworth (Sierra Sapphire) would have come from new, Reg ends in XPL (I'm assuming Guildford?)

And would anyone have a pic of the original dealer numberplates and stickers?

Or is it possible it could have come from any dealer and just registered in Guildford?

Sorry I done but I can remeber seeing Cossies in there. It was opposite AFN (Porsche) now the ford location is a Ben n Jerrys with a gym above and hotel next door.

I sometimes bump in to one of the ex technicians at track days, I will get the details if I see him again.

Yep! It was soon exciting going in for bits for our 1600 sport and XR 4x4 estate that my dad had...seeing the Cossies and me and my dad went bonkers when they had an RS 500 in there.

I remember going in there a lot, we dealt with them, in the Ford dealer I worked at in Shepperton....
There was a guy in the parts dept they called Trash...

Reason I ask is, It's now on an Irish reg but I'd like to combine original UK style plate (With dealer name and RS logo) and new Irish reg.

Guildford is/was the local DVLA office, but you had Dagenham Motors all over the place, Tony Brooks in Brooklands and Grays... Also, Currie Motors and Dees of Croydon were RS Dealers, just to make it harder.

Ah not as simple as I thought then!

I do actually, 1st stamp has no name? Just parts & service operation technical service and publications car service workshop

6000 mile service was in South Ockendone Essex.

Normally give the name of the garage in the first stamp... Don't get, if it's been serviced in Essex from pretty much day one, it's got a Surrey Reg...?!

It's a December 1988 build, Registered in February 1990... And it's got one of those 'No manufactures warranty' tag on the slam panel.

Guess I'll never know where it came from.

Ahh, The reg I have is not the original! It was put on a prive plate a few months after it was purchased.

The original is G835 ANO (Chelmsford?) So it is an Essex car!
I assume it's the dealer above!

Mine was originally J890 BNO, which I assume came from Rates in Grays. (Im only assuming that, as from memory, that was the most local RS Dealer back then?!)

No manufacturers warranty tags were usually on ex ford motor co cars MJA seemed to sell a lot of them

I saw a few of them where I worked most were cars registered for staff use some where development cars with odd interiors or strange option packs

MJA bought their cars at ford closed auctions so they got all the good stuff

there is a red 1600i on ebay now that as grays dealer plates
