My poor mondeo died so off I went and found this great car. It's in fab condition apart from a tiny scuff on the near side door

Just today I noticed that it just will not go over 80! It feels like it needs another gear. When it first start up its a bit noisy but I think that's just the auto choke?

Shall I get the plugs changed and have it tuned? With an 1800 engine id expect it to perform like my 1800 Mondeo did, 100 plus if needed (not that I ever ever drive that fast)

A 1.8 Focus will do 110 easily on a private test track...

I had a zetec like that, may want to have a compression check done as my zetec that did the same had bad piston rings.. if they proove fine, give it a real good service, cambelt, fuel filter, oil, plugs and air filter and im sure all will be fine

dodgy coil pack perhaps ?

Add a coil pack and new leads to your 'service' list..

does it run clean at higher revs or start to misfire at all ?
