escort xr3i efi , engine runs fine then after about half an hour if you boot it a little it loses power as if one of the ht leads is breaking down , spluttering for revs , I have changed leads and coil pack as I had a spare but still the same . would a faulty injector cause similar symptoms ,,,,,,, any ideas would be appreciated as its driving me mad literally . thanks

A few of my old escorts and orions used to do it when quarter of a tank of fuel or under. On the in tank fuel pump there's a pipe going top to bottom from it, that splits and causes problems. Had that prob on 50% of the escorts and orions I had back in the day. Can be fixed with replacing the plastic pipe with rubber fuel pipe. Have to take the tank out though :-(

A duff coolant or manifold temp sensor can do this, more likely to be a manifold air temp than coolant if it is after an hour. With a high inlet air temp the ecu retards timing to combat high charge temperature induced detonation.
The coil pack is also a good shout as well as the EDIS unit.

I had a horrible problem on my old Orion efi and ended up buying a sensor kit and changing every sensor and changed the fuel pressure regulator for a fse power boost one, seemed to cure that fault but that was hesitation under slow driving, used to drive me mad, made u look like a learner driver, then it developed the serious hesitation under load which made u feel like u hit a brick wall and that was under 1/4 tank of petrol, that was the first one I
Noticed with the fuel pump problem
