Default drive shaft or rack????

hi guys....

looking to put Mia back on road for next year but would like to get her sorted so all i have to do is tax and insured etc....but theres a cracking noise coming from the front when i turn right.....now long story short....i raced an astra vxr one night but unfortunitly the bottom hose for the powersteering popped of mid race so had to limp her home....powersteering fluid everwhere......i fixed her the following week....anyhow this prob showed its little head....i thought right ok...could be the pump or the rack....after all they were run dry etc...

not only does it crack when turnng right...it also intermitly shakes the steering wheel and pulls into the left dangerously....

am wondering now could it be the rack & the cv jiont?

any ideas?

I had something very similar on my Montego about 20 years ago. I'd left a split CV boot just a little too long and the cv joint was shagged. It only did it the once as I shat myself and changed it the next day.
