Coilover springs pounds ?
Hi I'v got a ford focos running 4x4 setup with avo shocks but I'm finding that when I boot the car round a corner or over the curbs on the track the tyres rub the arches the car is not low and in photos I'v seen of it from the rear on the track the rear end is rolling over to much so I'm looking at putting some harder spring on the rear the front is not to bab . So wot I'm looking for is wot ratting springs have any of you lot put on your Cosworth for track us . I'm thinking of going to 250 pounds

I agree with the above. My 911 used to rub its arches on std wheels when on track with sticky track tyres due to it running lower, when we increased the stiffness of the torsion bars and put turbo shox on it the bloomin thing still used to rub over big kerbs or when very sideways. SO I would look to chop the arches a bit and pull or roll them and not just at the top, then sort the roll etc.

This is a good starting point thanks for replying . As it will only cost £100 to do both ends of the car I think I'm going to start with this . The car dose have a Saff 4x4 rear arb on it and a copy of the Wrc bladed on The front . And when you look at it a focus wheel Bace is longer than a Saff as I had to have the prop made longer by 35mm and is wider all so

People tend to think with coilovers go as hard as they can thinking the car will handle better , but thats not the case spring as soft as you can then let the roll bars do there job in the corners
If your too stiff with springs on a track entering the corner will usally be rippley as all the heavy braking tends to ripple the tarmac like s carpet does , so if your suspension is too stiff it unsettles the car so in turn takes you longer to get on the gas waiting for it too settle hense why roll bars as so important

Completely agree with the above. If the spring is too stiff the damper cannot even begin to work. Therefore the spring literally springs about rather than the bump and rebound being smoothed by the damper unit. This is all true as long as the damper is specced correctly to the needs of the driver and conditions.

Thanks very much for all the replys but to be onist I'm now very confused as last night I went to birmingham wheels and met up with a good mate that builds and preps 5 VW cars for the vag championship and he nows his stuff big and I asked him wot they use on there cars witch he said just remember they are running FWD and they do change the springs from track to track but on the rear they run 350 to 450 pound springs . So I'm going to have to do a bit of testing I think
