Default Zetec Turbo Exhaust Manifold

Anybody had any experience with the tubular manifolds available from the States??

Currently building (at snail pace) a Zetec turbo and wanted to avoid an RST manifold on an adaptor plate. Just bought a 2WD T3 turbo so must have T3 flange.

Found this what are your thoughts??

Don't bother

There is a guy on here called Crazy cage that can build you a better quality manifold than that one.

There are a few good companies that can make you a bespoke or off the shelf manifold.
simsons I use for the kit car, v8 and higher end market due to quality and price.
I also use nortec as they make the billet collector and have great experiance with YB manifolds.
mobrook make cnc and water cut 5axis components like external gates and pipes etc that I tig parts onto half finished manifolds from the above.
hazeltine will be able to bend upto 10in stainless at 6 meters long into pretty much anything. From hand rails to supermarket trolleys.

all will help where they can.

if you haven't got a fortune to spend, the one from the states should do fine

I'll get in touch with Crazy Cage and see what he charges for a basic manifold, doesn't even have to be in stainless steel I'll probably heat wrap it anyway.

Hazeltine sound like they could be useful, if I take them a prototype of the pipe work made out of PVC tube or something similar and then have them bend it in steel for me, just need to get someone to weld it to a flange and I'm away!!

Trying to keep it under Ł200!!

Given the price it's a no brainer.

Just ensure there are no obvious bits of welding slag etc inside, dont have high hopes of it lasting 5 years and it'll be fine.

Ensure there is no excessive weight hanging off them, especially that log design, support the turbo and downpipe properly as needed

And dont wrap it unless you absolutely have to, wrapping always leads to premature cracking.

I'm just bought a T3 off a 2WD saph so will be running that with no more than a bar of boost so nothing to serious.

If it lasted 5 years of be over the moon so if it lasted half of that I'd be more than happy and probably still a better option than a ERST manifold on an adaptor plate.

Quite like the idea of taking the turbo over the top of the gearbox, gives me more choice for cooling upgrades and keep the heat away from the rad, just means a bit of custom exhaust work but not something that bothers me, if definitely brace from the head though as I've seen that done before.
