Default Best car for around £500

Well after having my 520d stolen the other night and not knowing when I'm going to be sorted I need a cheap car to tide me over, ideally not to small and fitted with a towbar and around the manchester area, what's reliable too look out for as it will be the wife and kids in it

Cheers

A 1.8 lx mondeo would be a good bet, should be plenty about, reliable and cheap to run.
Friend of mines grand parents have just sold a fiesta zetec s with 11k on it for £200, can't believe I missed it but just goes to show some people have no idea.

If you want something 5 series size then I would have a mk3 Mondeo, if it needs to be a diesel then avoid the tdci, find a early Y-02 plate tddi.

Take a look at Vauxhall omega they drive quite similar to an old 5 series and are unbelievably cheap for what they are.

Late model 2.6 or 3.2 v6 in Elite or CDX is what I'd go for you get cruise control heated seats xenons etc great for towing.

Saloons much cheaper than estates.

2.2 4 cylinder also goes quite well and is much better on fuel than the V6's.

I've got a T reg Mercedes C200 Elegance for sale mate.

No mot & a slight blow from the centre box but otherwise good.

£300 if it helps you out, it's on eBay for £400

That's a bargain as long as it doesn't need much for the mot

never believe the "it will pass easy as it doesn't need much " or "Im just to busy" lines you see in adds. if it didn't need much they would have mot'd it themself and sold it for more.

Cheers for the Input, I've been to see a couple today but don't want to travel to far for such a low value car, I live near the trafford centre, and will have a lot of traveling I expect when the insurance pays and I'm looking for another

Default Best car for around £500

I picked my last 2.0 duratec mk3 mondeo up for £200, was a 51 plate, went on holiday to North Yorkshire from Bournemouth and lasted us a year! Can't get better for that money and there everywhere! I'd have another mk3 mondeo in a shot. Oh and when I'd finished with it I sold it for £400 lol!!

You can't beat a mk3 mondeo. I had a tddi, paid 500 for it, 18 months and 30,000 miles later I put a new rear caliper on it, a fresh mot and sold it for 800 lol.
