Use your eyes and get cruise control.

The latter being superb if you do lots of miles, and in built up areas where there are risks of cameras etc...just click cruise at a sensible speed and waft along.

For fixed cameras a phone app would suffice. For mobile cameras camera detectors are no good as as soon as they pick up the signal of the camera its to late, the cameras already got you.

i've found as above, i always have sat nav running and highlights speed cameras automatically.
mobile units need to be picked up by line of sight and can be too late.
alternatively go on the .gov website to find out where the sites are for the day.

Im a very sensible driver, I drive a van everyday that doesn't have cruise control and a only a 1.4 engine ( no speed demon ). I have noticed a few roads that look like they could be a 40 but there not.. My sat nav is up to date and that gives a speed warning up but it's not always correct.

A remote garage door opener fitting kit, it seems to work on the same frequency as radar guns and blocks them and alerts you giving you time to slow down.

erm...not got a direct link, but by law they must list any sites where speed cameras are to put/used for the day IIRC

http://www.speedcamerasuk.com/speed-camera-database.htm

that used to work in the 90's apparently. is it still the way to do it? id expect technologys moved on a bit by now though?
not speeding in the first place is obviously the sensible way to do it but since when did the majority of the sort of people who spend thousands of pounds on old bangers care about sensible...?
im not sensible at all and often drive like an arse. im not sure how ive still got a clean licence but ive got a sixth sense for it. yesterday I randomly slowed to under 30 for no reason just as I rounded a corner to see two coppers with speed guns looking at me...
now that ive said that I bet I get caught 3 times next week....

Radar technology hasn't changed its still the same 30's technology, still works on the same wavelength, and yes it still can be jammed, it's illegal knowingly doing it.

But if a device like a parking sensor or garage door opener just happens to jam the signal then I suppose it's a bit of grey area

Waze is a decent app for your iphone, android or windows phones. It will tell you if there is any traffic, accidents, police etc.
