If the turbo veins (in the exhaust housing) get clogged up and stick it'll go into limp mode when you put your foot down due to incorrect boost pressure. Usually happens in 5/6th gear under the most load. It's a common problem but an easy fix, you need to take off the exhaust housing and free up the veins with brake cleaner or cilet bang foam. There's a few videos on YouTube and more info on line on how to do it.

There are loads of potential causes, and I'd politely disagree with Jim. Clogged vanes will affect performance, but it's very unlikely that they'd bring on limp mode.
Before spending another penny get the fault codes read and take it from there. If you get P1211, and P0251 it's time to consider how much you want to spend on it, and whether to cut your losses and move the car on.

i had a similar experience with my 2004 1.8 tdci focus and it turned out to be a kinked vacuum hose so don't go spending big just yet...

if 1211 and 0251 codes are logged it could be a costly repair.working for fords a few years back its normally a sign of the fuel pump breaking up clogging the injectors under high pressure.
a permanent fix is normally a fuel pump, fuel filter and all injector replacement which never sees a fault return

Thanks for the reply s the fault code I'm getting is P2263. was told by aa it's a sticky vain or a faulty boost control unit which sits next to the turbo by the waste gate .. I think

There's an arm that comes off the turbo and goes to the actuator, disconnect the arm at the actuator end and see if the arm moves freely at the turbo end. It should move about an inch back and forth effortlessly, if not then you'll need to take the exhaust housing off and clean the vains free from soot and crud.
