Towing / taxing / insuring a car to move it to store it ??
Hi guys ,
Not posted for a While now but am after a little advise please ?
I bought a car that I want to turn into a track car but need to get it home it's a potential non runner so I would be towing it , problem is that due to the new Tax law etc as soon as the car is sold it needs to be re taxed , do I really need to pay over £120 for what is essentially 30-50 minutes whilst I get it home ?
Any help appreciated thanks
Scott

I'm sure you can send a sorn notification away with the log book so you shouldn't need to tax it although technically speaking if your going to be towing it with a car & all the wheels are on the road you should have the car taxed & insured

tax
this is where the new tax system simply doesnt work-it will show taxed on the system if checked[providing the seller has it taxed] untill the dvla process the documents...when they process they backdate the time the vehicle is not taxed
to the date of sale...so if checked at the time it will be fine but do it a few weeks later and it wont,,,
they have also been sending letters out to new keepers demanding backtax even though they have sorned on purchase-its a mistake dvla told me-the system cant cope-i have had two such letters scince the new laws

hire a trailer, or get a car transport company, theres usually a few on ebay/ gumtree facebook. which should be cheap enough
or get it driving, book it in for an mot, and get some temp insurance on it and just drive it home (via the mot station obviously)
