Default Zetec turbo problems

Got a bit off a prob with my Westfield zetec silvertop turbo it's all mapped and up and running and going well but there's one problem it seems to have extramly slow throttle response not just when driving but even at idle ! You can actually see it in the boost gadge at idle floor the thottle and boost gadge looses vacuum then revs a sec later and I mean a second literally the ECU is a old e48 DTA mapped off a very reputable mapper and very happy with the map ! So not sure if this is a problem with an actual car part or more a mapping issue ! Any ideas very welcome

What inlet are you using on this?

What does the boost gauge do when your driving and you get lazy throttle response?

How can it be mapped well if it has this problem?!

Any issues with the setup need to be sorted before mapping, throttle response is part of a good map.

Are you sure you don't have a boost leak?

What boost pressure are you seeing at full boost? Did you managed to drive it? how does it drive when on boost?

Only boosting at 5.5 psi and yeh driving very well apart from this problem with the throttle response dint think there's a boost leak but to be honest can't see how that would cause my problem though

5.5psi? how is that set? is a spring in wastegate or EBC or something? What boost should you be seeing? eg/ what was the mapper expecting?

My current silvertop turbo boost's ten psi and it is not a built engine. 5 psi seems really low.

Boost is controlled via external wastgate

150hp is about 100 hp off what a good zetec turbo can dyno on stock bottom end.

I think you need another person to look at the engine map. It isn't ready to remap if there is an issue with its running so it shouldn't have been mapped till it was fixed..

If there wasn't an issue with the running before mapping then it is possibly down to the mapping..

No acceleration enrichments or too much, poorly map or tps sensor, air leak on manifold after throttle body.
Or just crap mapping, that boost is very low for the potential by a big margin.

18psi at 5,000rpm though.. is this a stock engine? what is the engine spec?

Just seen on the Dyno chart 155 (205.8) so I am guessing it is corrected to flywheel hp in the bracketes? (what dyno was it by the way?)

As above... sounds like a mapping issue and I would bet that the accell enrichments are incorrect. That is what they do... provide the correct fueling for the initial blip of the throttle....After that the normal map will take over again. Would give the exact symptom you have.

Matt.
