Default Ford Fiesta Zetec 2004 MK5 1.6 16v

If anyone can assist I would appreciate it.

I've just bought this 1.6 2004 Fiesta Zetec MK5 from the "outlaws" for my daughter to use to go to school. The radiator fan doesn't kick in in slow traffic, the engine check light is on and the temp gauge is always showing half.

If the car idles for a while then it starts to overheat. When we bridge out the fan then it works, so it's not the fan. I've been told to look for the temperature control unit on the radiator, which I can't find. Other info suggests that I change the intermotor temperature control unit. No one seems to know where it's located specifically, like the G-Spot on most women.

I've been searching the net back to front and for some reason there is little info regarding on where to start looking or how to fix this issue. I've there's an expert out there who can point me in the right direction it would be awesome. Thank you

Im sure the control of the fan is inside the engine ecu. You will need a new ecu. Your fiesta is classed as a mk7 in England.

Try the radiator fan relay, it could be stuck open therefore not making a circuit. I think the relay is in the fusebox.

The fan is controlled by the engine ecu.
