Default AN6 fittings for Cossy fuel rail

I know it's been covered a few times but I'm looking to have a couple of AN6 fittings braized on to a spare fuel rail I have.

The problem is, I can only find weld on mild steel AN6 bung fitting's which are round.

I would like to keep the hex on the AN fitting so I can nip it up tight enough without worrying about the weld fracturing. The only AN6 fittings I can find with the hex on are the AN - hose barb and they are aluminium so not suitable.

Will the braiz be strong enough to tighten up?

Pretty sure Earls offer both hex or round, stainless or aluminium.

Doubt they do mild steel.

If you insist on mild with hex, just order a male-male nipple and cut one side off.

use a -6 pressure cap from a hydraulic company then drill it out, i ground down the hex to make a square that fitted inside the rail this stops it turning how ever hard you do it up then the weld is just there to seal it.

I don't get this turning as you do it up. If it's braized on right it will not turn. Un less your trying to do it up stupidity tight with a big bar lol

I've never used the AN fittings before, so I was worried when tightening it up all of the stress will go onto the weld. Whereas if it had a hex on it, I would be able to hold it in place whilst I nipped it up.

I'm goin to get 9/16 male/make adapter in mild steel and turn the threads off one side.

Was going to play it safe

I'm going to get the fuel rail done first and invest in a new set of fuel lines, AN fittings, swirl pot, 044 pump and loom over the summer.

That way the fuel side will be safe

I'd not worry about it mate there not done up very tight. The tool your meant to use is about half the leng of a normal spanner. Here's my rail with round fittings.

I got mild steel AN-6 fittings from Alex @ Torques UK. I got them brazed on however, I haven't tested it yet so can't say how successful it was.

Has anyone converted a 2wd fuel pressure regulator to AN fittings?

Would be interested to hear your thoughts / ideas.

The inlet and outlet push on connections on the reg are 8mm O.D.

I was thinking about using these fittings?

Be interesting to know.

I know someone who has tapped fittings in but yet to be tested.

I'll be looking and the same idea as in your link for the hard lines under the car. If it fails ill get some fittings braized into them as well.

If the olive goes on nice and snug it should seal

Fuel rail has arrived....

Now then, I would like to remove the full elbow off the end, so basically I'm left with square open ends. If I cut the ends off the square section I'll be left with 3 outlets?

Unless I make an angled cut, which is just wrong

I cut the elbo off leaving a small tail. Drilled Into the fitting so it sat over the tail then it was brazed on

Can these mild steel -6 weld on fittings be silver soldered onto the original 8mm metal fuel line (that goes along under the car).
I'd like to have made up a coulpe of new flexi lines with -6 fittings for:
fuel rail to metal fuel line.
Metal fuel line to fuel filter (banjo).

Thanks

If it's a steel fuel line then you could just weld the fittings to it.

Silver solder may work ok, not something I've ever worked with but do hear it's strong.

Yes you can just weld onto the rail, no need for solder. Mines done now, Ollie at NMS done it while mine was there for live mapping

You can get the Ford pressure return -6AN fitting from Russell. It goes right into the factory seat with the spring clamp. Think they are $24 dollars Canadian, so 12 Pounds, with your awesome exchange rate. I don't have a photo but I can upload one soon. Rail looks good though!
