Default 2013 focus st3 thefts

Debating about buying 2013 focus st3 from my local ford dealers, basically all pasted credit and given ok, so am at the point just need to sign dotted line.

It's a keyless model and I have heard of these cars going missing on Internet stolen though there obd sockets ??
Is this true or is just concerning the old style ST and focus RS and problem now fixed or am I just being paranoid
It's costing £18000 over 5 years so don't want some fu!!er pinching it
Cheers

Any car can be stolen tbh pal get a viper alarm or a modded disclok they will give you you best chance of it not being touched

For what you're spending Id get the viper fitted so it disables the OBD.

Any keyless entry / start car are very easy to steal and you can cheaply buy the kit needed on eBay

Get a disk lock as well.

I thought it only really affected the older Mk2 Focus ST and RS? Certainly haven't heard of any Mk3 STs being stolen without keys.

Edited, because I'm an idiot.

Probably because of the value of the RS maybe?

BMW's get hit loads.

The escos will be more wanted by the thieves than a ST focus.

As you said you were debating buying an ST I think you've won your own debate with that statement

Think it really is at the point of buy a Escos at X and sell it for Y at a later date and at worst break even.

As much as I love cosies it would be sore as fuck buying an escort cosworth paying it up monthly for 5 years and after 2 months the bastard thing needs a rebuild etc or in most cases will cost decent wedge to repair and maintain anyway lol

Paying a motor up surely means turn the key reliability is whats needed. Or push button in this case lol.

Also add to the equation what you'll have to spend on the escort maintaining it, it'll cost a lot more to keep in good order than a focus

If you do go for the ST go and see Eggzy at KMS Motorsport in wigan. Offering OBD disablement for £150 atm. Whats involved I don't know, think he just disables key programming via OBD but can still read codes etc. Worth a ring for £150!

Just move the obd socket alltogether. If its not where it should be they will soon give up.

I have keyless on my tit x.Its handy when your hands are full when you come out the shop and the key is in your back pocket.locking without using the key and just tapping the button on the handle can be temperamental.

U can buy a obd extension cable for £5. Relocate it. I have. Slso can get them where the pins are changed. But obviously u would need the cable in the car if owt happens. Think your more likely to have the escort go missing. Any good car needs a good alarm.

A great car but it will have its faults , and finding parts now is hard work . For 18k id have to go for some thing I could use without getting worried .

You're location is Liverpool and you think it's a better idea to buy an escort cosworth for fear of the ST being stolen?

Yes it might be the better investment in the long run, however I'm not sure I'd sleep any easier with that parked outside unless you have a garage and security.
