Hi Glenn, sounds like you have been busy. Where did you find new rear disc backing plates please?

What about this one Glenn?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/F-REG-FORD...#ht_215wt_1275

Looks like its starting to rust around the middle of the tailgate around the spoiler, but doesn't look too bad.

I would say it needs a boot lid. Apart from that it looks a clean car.

I should of bought a saph cos 6 years ago instead of what I have now.I did think about it at the time but I wanted something newer. I payed strong money for the mondeo because it was mint and only about 5 years old at the time, The same money would of bought me a decent saph with change left over. It would have also been still worth a fair amount today where as sadly st220's are not.

What's a rough value of mine then? (It's NOT for sale, But I bought it here in Ireland so interested to see UK value)

1990 (December '88 build) 2WD,
Moonstone Blue,
Black Leather, (Small wear on driver bolster)
Never recorded as stolen/written off etc..
94k Miles, Original service book and a nice of amount of paperwork to prove!
More a less standard mechanically, Stainless exhaust/4x4 Fuel Rail that's all really.

Body is very good, Needs a rear drivers lower arch repair and a few bubbles on the doors.
Needs a gearbox rebuild, Hard to get 3rd/4th when driving hard.. Other than that it's good!

Prices are silly. Even on parts and running gear. My father in law has bought some from Poland. Ł4k each mark.

I'm not being rude, but when they've started to rust on the outside, they've most likely started to rust in a lot of other places as well.

It'd be impossible to value a car without looking at it.

It hasn't, I'm just being honest/picky.

Random fact, but to put a Cosworth onto Irish plates is around €2,500 and annual tax is €710. In 5years time (When it's 30 years old) Tax will be €56!

BTW I paid around Ł3,900ish.

that's not a bad price. Can't you keep it on UK plates. like all the eastern Europeans seem to do? meant to be allowed for 6 months or something, but see the same cats years later on the sane drives.

VRT is a joke!

That looks pretty good to me - seats etc are good and the door cards are later 4x4 ones, plus the bonnet isn't original of course… but its one I'd look at for sure.

What are they 2wd or 4wd and are they left hand drive ones ? Did he buy them in Poland to re-sell here or for his own use ? You dont think of Poland as a place to buy Sapphire Cosworths from.
Nice to see someone from the Isle of Wight posting on here. I guess the Military road is still the best place on the Island for a bit of fast motoring ?

haha yes about the only bit now. although very bumpy as are the rest of the island roads!
The only bit of dual carriageway has just been fitted with anpr cameras.

He has bough them to use the engines and running gear in some projects. then will be getting rid of the shells.

they are left hand drive. one 4x4 one 2wd and one 3door.
the 4x4 shell is a wrapped boxy jeans rally rep with cage.

It's good to see value rising but a shame so many good cars have been broken and still are getting broke. I paid Ł2400 for mine in 2006 and had 4 years of using it and enjoyed every minute of it, almost finished a complete restoration can't wait to drive it again.

If the shells are good they should sell ok.
I come from the Island myself and as said there are not many decent stretches of road there to have a blast!!

I was just going to get a complete kit and do the lot while it's out and have no worries, But if it's common problem for them to go.... I might just do a synchro ?
