Default 044 fuel pump pictures

need some help, I've bought a new apparently genuine fuel pump, looked it over and the Box says made in Czech Republic the letters look like they are stamped in properly, but there is some crappy plastic bag with some cheap looking terminals in them, and there is no helicoil in it.
if anyone has any pics of genuine ones they have bought recently would be a good help! thanks!
I didn't pay the proper money for it which is making me think it's not genuine.

Harry this is the link to the Chinese fakes, very close match but as you say there is a low quality feel to them.

http://www.aliexpress.com/store/prod...=9271&cv=15095

I got 2 from Matt Lewis Last week, I'll get pics when home, I still have the fakes. Biggest clue is the no helicoil.

Yeah that was what I thought that if they don't have the helicoil then they are fake, I'll post some pics of mine up later as well. Thanks

Think I may have been caught out as well, mine looks good apart from supposing to have a helicoil in the inlet which mine doesn't.

Any one have a picture of the inlet hole.

I would liked to get this done but I have to return the pumps to get my money back.

Also wanted to cut the thing open on a bandsaw and do the same to a genuine 044 and compare but it's too much money to waste!

Surely you realise it's moody when a Ł150 pump is being sold for Ł80, they shouldn't brand it as bosch I know.

Has anyone actually tried one yet?

I buy knock of pattern parts all the time I have to as an example I ordered a ball gear 4 weeks ago cat was Ł3500 for genuine! That's just 1 gear it has it has 8 gears just in the final drives! I got an Italian made cgr brand for Ł600 although no doubt they are really made in China we've had good luck with cgr overall worth the savings.

Thing is with the pump I wouldn't want to risk ruining my engine over buying another I paid Ł130 and just thought that it was a bit cheaper rather than a fake one.

Default 044

good thread this-it had me checking the one i have up for sale-but its genuine[so it should be at the price i paid lol]

not worth risking an engine on cheaper unit unless they are proven to flow well and be durable too

Out of interest.

Has anyone bought one of the cheap pumps the likes of Demon Tweeks now sell, claiming to be an 044 replacement or equivalent ? They're dirt cheap, although at least they arent pretending to be a genuine 044.

Considering the 044 is decades old, and is still at the top of the game when it comes to fuel pumps, nobody has been able to match it's performance...it does beggar belief that anyone would claim to have an equivalent for a fraction of the cost.
Also very annoying at the amount of fakes out there too !

FSE have been around for a very long time, but even that advert isnt quite clear as to what they are selling.

Visually it is not an 044, Bosch dont usually paint theirs black, plus it seems to have an alternative marking on the pump itself ?
But they seem to be advertising it as an 044 ?

Would be interesting to see more detailed pics of that one

Webpage is more than a bit misleading then. Whilst they list a different part number ( as they do with all their pumps ), they do say the pump is the Bosch 044 too.

If it is not a genuine 044, then surely that advert/listing is not legal ?

Any pictures of it to see how it appears externally compared to the others ?

It is possible the design has changed, but I guess without someone testing or opening one up...going to be hard to say
