Escort mk4 driveshaft queries?
Hi all.
Mate in work has a query.
He has a 1990 Escort Cabriolet but it has a 1.6 diesel escort van engine in it ( I know).
The wheels appear to have bad adverse camber, which he has always put down to the diesel engine weighing more than the petrol one but after some discussions it appears that the springs have the same rating so we don't think its that. We now know as well that only the engine and gearbox were changed not the shafts etc hence we are wondering whether the driveshafts are the wrong length and pushing the wheels out a bit?
It's been so long since I played about with these but my very vague memory seems to think that I had similar issues years ago with putting an escort diesel box on an XR2i?
Any thoughts welcome.

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
All mk3/4 escort driveshafts are the same weather it's petrol or diesel. What shocks and springs is he running? Have you got any pics? I had a diesel box in my escort rs turbo and had no issues.

I had a mk4 xr3i with Mk3 Escort track control arms fitted when I bought it. These pushed my front wheels out makin them camber. I changed them for proper mk4 ones and all was well. Mk3 has a bush on the inside where it mounts to the car and mk4 has a bearing. Hope this helps
