Default MK1 Escort Project Help Needed

Hello fellow members, am currently in the build process of my escort project, bubble arches, image split rims, le mans green paint and the list goes on, the power for this little gem is a 2wd coswrth yb turbo and this is where I need a little help, I want to use a world cup x-member with pinto engine mounts to fit motor to car but have been told that the sump needs a bit of mod to fit, I know the better way to mount is chassis but wish to keep it looking as if factory fitted, it will be pointed out this is wrong but this is how I imagined the project from the start and am stubborn, however have also been told that there is a x-member that allows the engine to be fitted on mounts without the sump needing any mods and this is where I need help in finding this bit of kit, if anybody knows of or has friends that know of this if you could comment below that would help me greatly and would be very appreciated.

many regards hadyn

would add photos but don't know how sorrry

There was someone selling X members on UK ebay that would work with std YB sump but there not on there any more,

I think most people use the low rack mount version of the WCXM and trim off the lip at the back, other than that you have to mod the sump.

If you need to buy the parts in the UK and have them shipped give Lea a try at Atkins motorsport, he has loads of escort Grp4 kit if you need any thing else.

R.A.C.E. sell good quality x members for mk1's m8, but rather than mod the sump u are easier removing about 10-20mm from the rear lip of ur x member rather than getting the sump modified.

You just have to trim the rear of the crossmember and the rack normally clears but is close,as said wccm is preferred,or buy the modded one

Lots of companies make the cross member and lots of companies make the engine mounts. They are not all made to the same spec and sizes vary. Best to buy the mounts and cross member from the same company. I bought my cross member with cross flow mounts and when I upgraded and fitted a pinto I forgot what company I bought it from. I bought pinto mounts off ebay and they didnt fit, I ended up fitting spacers between the block and engine mount.
